BeeLo 11-11-2004 10:28 AM

I hear you man. Dead as a doorbell in here.....

PHAT-BOY 11-11-2004 11:27 AM

Went to a funeral yesterday, my Great Grandma. She was 94. I don't know if I want to live that long. Not that I think I will.

Mongo 11-11-2004 12:06 PM

Unfortunately, I'm in over my head on a few things. I've been working around 70 hours a week. When it comes bonus/raise time I should be a happy dog...but for right now I'm just trying to keep my head above water with work, family, trying to finish two rooms at the same time at home.....etc.

WooHoo! 11-11-2004 12:31 PM

sorry to hear about Great Gram PHATBOY... sucks seeing the grandparents go. 94, that's a good run. Mongo, it's that time of year for working huh? Me too, been limo driving my ass off (my part time job), making the big cha-ching cuz it's getting colder.

PHAT-BOY 11-12-2004 09:12 AM

Thanks WooHoo! Besides that, I'm finishing the basement, so when any of my Forum Bro's come my way, I have a place to sack out. Adding another 1000 square feet to the home. Should be painting this weekend, and wifey and I are going to the uncles carpet store to pick out the flooring. Then it's just finish trim, electrical trim, a drop ceiling, mount the toity, and furnish. Man I can't wait. Also, I'm in the hunt for a Suzuki jr 50. Anyone got a lead on a nice one????

WooHoo! 11-12-2004 09:17 AM

I have a basement room under way too. Very small though. Big enough to watch race/stunt dvds and lift weights. My friends dad gave me his old recliner with duct tape on the arms just like Kramer's dad's chair for down there. classic.
I'd like to get my hands on a GSX-R 50. Rare.

I mean come on, are these the coolest things ever or what?

PHAT-BOY 11-12-2004 09:24 AM

Bad ass dude. I have never seen one of those. My boy needs one. Where did you get the pic? Ever seen one for sale?

WooHoo! 11-12-2004 10:14 AM

i've seen them all over the internet but never for sale. Can't remember where I found that pic. Some racing team or something is using them for pit bikes. I might have gotten the pic at ysr50.com You can go to ysr50.com (my other favorite scale bike) and sometimes he's got little hondas (nsr50, nsr80) for sale. Shoot Jay the owner of ysr50.com an email and he might be able to hook you up with someone selling one. I think they sell in the thousands. ouch. Even a nice relatively easy to find ysr50 is going for $1500-$3000 these days.

WooHoo! 11-12-2004 10:16 AM

this one is sweet

Phat-boy sorry to hear about your Great Grand ma. Good luck on your on your basement. Bet it will be a great gathering place.

PHAT-BOY 11-15-2004 08:11 AM

Should be cool. I'm doing the family room in retro Harley furnishings. Doing the muted orange and creme walls, old skool signs and prints. I'm looking forward to it!!

I'm doing mine in motorcycle stuff too, but so far Suzuki is winning out. The ceiling fan has GSX-R stickers on every blade. I have some signed Mladin and Yates posters to be framed. Stuff like that. Speaking of Aaron Yates, look at this pic of him at VIR. holy crap he is the man!

skam458 11-15-2004 05:22 PM

Should be sweet looking...nothin wrong with the Suzuki theme....have a bunch of stickers and posters up around the house here too

PHAT-BOY 11-17-2004 09:29 AM

Man I hate painting. Gotta paint the basement, and I friggin hate it.

BeeLo 11-17-2004 09:41 AM

When I bought my house in June, I spent two weeks before I moved in just cleaning, fixing the walls, and painting....

Yeah, it sucked....

Junkyard 11-17-2004 11:07 AM

Hey, don't feel bad. I was out of town on business last week, and as usual, the 'ol lady decides she's going to do some work around the house. It never fails. Anytime I'm away, she thinks she's Mrs. Fix-it. One time she decided to change a ceiling light fixture, and damn near electrocuted herself. So this time she sticks to something safe and starts painting the hallway. (She tells me she's doing me a favor) I have no idea where she got the idea that she knows how to paint. I'm still trying to fix everything she screwed up. When I get that mess straightened out, she wants me to re-wallpaper the @#$% bathroom. Oh yeah. And could I please get it done before Thanksgiving? Painting definately sucks....big time. But doing wallpaper is like some perverted form of torture.

PHAT-BOY 11-17-2004 11:13 AM

there is not one ounce of wallpaper in my house, nor will there EVER be. That is the shittiest invention known to man. Who enjoys that shit? Putting it up is a pain in the ass, and taking to down is worse! Torture for sure!

BeeLo 11-17-2004 11:26 AM

I'm with the both of you on this one. I was lucky enough to buy a house that was made in the 50's, a time when they still used real wood, real contruction techniques, and real plaster on the walls.

Its all paint and tile for me. :)

Tom 11-18-2004 03:32 AM

oh yea!!
wallpaper sux big time,
ya never know if it will really stay stuck,
and matching those patterns is always a bitch .
G00d luck with that wall paper...
and older house yep, thats what I have, but way different than any of ya have even heard of proly
The guy built this place was afraid of fires,
so guess what ??
everything is either cinder block for walls, and concrete for floors
that would include the ceilings as well.
and this is for all inside walls as well, not just the outside walls.
so hanging pictures means drilling and using concrete anchors.

BeeLo 11-18-2004 03:40 AM

The college I went to, Umass Dartmouth, is all concrete from the floor to the ceiling.

I can only imagine the heating bill in winter.....

Tom 11-18-2004 06:11 AM

actually I heat with wood, and after about 2 to 3 hours,
the concrete is all warmed up and comfy.

But before the wood, I used fuel oil first year here, bill was if I remember correctly 2500 but now the wood is only like 450 per year .
a pain sometimes, and fair amount of work , but well worth the effort.

better than a wood floor, they never seem to be warm ,which is why many do carpet.

also cool in the summer.

BeeLo 11-18-2004 06:34 AM

$2500!

Wow, since I bought the house in June I'm in for about $400 and I've got 200 gallons to go.

WooHoo! 11-18-2004 07:54 AM

heh heh, Tom said "wood".

dudes, the five worst jobs of all time and in proper order:

1. changing diapers.
2. raking.
3. removing wallpaper.
4. painting
5. cleaning.

thank god i'll never know about the first one.

Tom 11-18-2004 08:13 AM

1,2,3
don't apply to me .
been there done that .
but not any more..............

its just as easy to wall paper over wallpaper, instead of removing it
well, my.02 anyway .

BeeLo 11-18-2004 08:26 AM

Isn't the reason for having to do #1, making them do the rest? :p

Not there yet, but it's coming one of these years.

WooHoo! 11-18-2004 09:30 AM

"them"?... kids you mean? i wouldn't live to see the day when they could. two hours with kids and i'm looking for the nearest bar or bottle of Xanax. ;-)

PHAT-BOY 11-18-2004 09:38 AM

HEH, Wood!

I got twins baby, turned 5 on Tuesday. I've changed 2 at a time. It ain't so bad. I'd do that over wallpaper anytime.

Junkyard 11-18-2004 11:16 AM

Allright, now I know why people hate frigging wallpaper. First you have to go through the hell of shopping for the shit. I had to spend about 2 hrs in Lowes last night looking through God knows how many freakin' sample books. "Oh, isn't this one nice?" "How about this one?" At this piont I really don't give 2 shits what she picks out, 'cause it's gonna suck hanging that crap no matter what! I have no idea why I have to get dragged into the store in the first place. Not like I'm going to have a say in what she picks. I think for payback I'll drag her to the HD dealer and make her hang out while I take half the day deciding what piece of chrome to buy!
