sport bikes...

I'm such a child. After being pent up all winter with no riding, and gingerly riding on so-so roads this early season, yesterday (near 70 degrees) was the first day I grabbed a handful of throttle on the Suzuki. Anyone here on the forums who rides/rode a sportbike knows what I'm talking about when I say how fun (and juvenile, I know) it is to rip right past two peeps racing each other on the highway (Mustang and Turbo Saab in yesterday's case) like they're standing still. They were going for it hard, doing about 110, I must have passed them doing 130... heh heh

Not a real smart thing to do but it sure is fun

Love it! Ruined their little race, eh? Also, one of my all time favorites is the yuppie with the Porsche Boxster sitting next to me at the light. Getting smoked by a Road King while simultaneously getting your eardrums perforated has to be sooo humiliating! After 300 yds or so, I just roll off the throttle and let the yup scream past me, all pissed off. I ride on, hoping there's a cop around the next bend! :D

I know it all too well. I need to find a buddy with one, the CB350 just ain't cutting it for speed!!

post up a pic of that puppy. you know i love old CBs. really want one. I have some kharma I have to fullfill for a '72 CL350 I rode into the woods when I was 18 and left there to die. We shot it full of holes a few weeks later. I figure if I find one and restore it into a vintage racer-looking street bike my kharma will be paid. Right?

In some odd kind of way, I understand that logic. I'll get a pic up. I thought I had a couple with the kids in the photo album. I'll check....

Me Too, Sport

Yes, I know what you mean. Just got off house arrest(that sucks). Made sure the bike was good to go(R1) and off I went. I-75, not wide open, but down on the tank I saw 176 indicated. Took all of maybe 15-20 seconds. Smooth machine. Yeah, standin' still they were, but make no mistake, this is only the 1st time I've been at this speed and not even red-lined, full gear on and smooth road. Then again I-95 around here is85-90. Pass in triples.
Just had to do it though...to celebrate that I can twist the grip. Im a pilot too and this is faster. Feel the wind, but wear your leather, boots, and gloves.
I've had that little tiny pebble hit a finger on the grip once and have been wearing gloves ever since... plus the full face.
By the way, HJC leathers and helmats are really good. HElmat is just as good as Shoei and a lot less than Arai.
Otherwise, this Yam is #17 since '64. Has 34,722 on ODO.No need for upgrade. MSF card keeps me in the safety zone.

Regarding vintage sports bikes.
I have a Yamaha RD350LC which is still running-still a lot of fun to ride. It does not match the R6 (which I also have) for speed, but these older bikes still have what it takes.
I saw one on ebay go for over $4800. Considering that only a couple of years ago, I was able to get one for $1500, is this the way things are going?
