Surfin for a bike

I was surfin for a bike on cycle trader. I found a 01 883 Sportster with 107 miles and mild modifications one it for $3495. I called the number and it was a fax machine. I e-mailed instead. The person replyed and said he was in the Netherlands and the price included shipping to the US ( the ad in cycle trader was from Helena MT) I call bs. Opinions anyone????????I told him I wouldn't pay for a bike I couldn't see.

Wouldn't fall for it if I were you. He probably wants you to send the money first too? Ask him about escrowing the bike/money and see his response - bet you don't hear back from him.

My advice - keep it in the US - hell keep it as local as you can. I'd buy a bike as far away as I'm willing to travel to make the deal.

I e-mail him this morning told him if he could ship it back home ( he said he moved overseas to be with his wifes family ) I would drive there to look at the bike. No answer yet.........hmmmmmmm. I smell a scam.

It's a total scam. Look on Ebay, those same losers have over-the-top billet choppers listed for Buy It Now prices of like $5500 or something like that. Very strange.

That sort of shit has been going on for a while now......can't believe people fall for it

He just wrote me back. He gave me a web addy for an escrow . It is a third party service. He gave me his phone number too. Still really suspicious about it. Don't want to trow away money.

an old saying but TRUE

" If in doubt, don't do it."

He just e-mailed me again. Sent pics this time. Says he is waiting for my reply. Persistant person. I asked for the dealer that he purchased the bike from and who did the work on his aftermarket parts but he doesn't say anything about that. Really nice bike.......but.........when something is to good to be true, it usually is.

WooHoo! 04-14-2004 10:29 AM

yup, listen to your inner voice. it's a scam. big time.

Mongo 04-14-2004 06:49 PM

Don't do it - there are more than enough of these cases of people getting scammed. It's horrible, and hard working people lose there money daily putting trust in people.

I have to agree DONT DO IT!!!
There are other good deals to be made....
