What bike do you ride?
 

Hi, As a U.K. subscriber I am interested in seeing which type of bike is most popular in the states, I know that Harley have a big slice of the cake, probably because your roads are long and straight. Over here we favour the more sport orientated bike, more for road holding than anything else as our roads are mostly twists and turns. I have watched the prog on tv where this firm O.C. builds these weird looking chopper type bikes, are they really comfortable? I know we have a few over here but on runs they dont go far, they would never make it on the bendy roads in the Lake district. I ride a Honda VFR800 for the buzz and have just purchased the new Honda CBF1000 which is more of a tourer bike, (suits the better half) And in closing I wish all the best for your boys/girls (and ours) in the war zones abroad. Hi Rikersron, I take it that the Big Dog K9 is a Harley. And isnt Rikers Island one tough jail to be in for one reason or the other. We could do with a few tough jails over here, this country is too soft on criminals, we have illegal immigrants swarming all over the place and our dozy government hasnt a clue as to what is going on, And as we are only a small island our culture is being swamped as they gradually take over. :confused:

Hey...I took mine to the track for the first time last Friday night. Here's the results:

They lost the ticket on my first run but my brother said it was a 10.4 and change. Not too shabby!

Oh yea...never raced before so I was pretty excited just to be doing it. Be careful though if you're thinking about going to the track. The track is like crack! :D :D

I ride a 1954 Servicar, 45" flathead. I got it from the Long Beach Police Dept back in 1980, did nothing to it but put fresh paint. Poor thing cant keep up with itself, cant take her on the freeway, so I use it for local Toy Runs. My main bike is a 2006 Lowrider.

Hey Two Wheeler those times dont sound too bad, you could give some of the tail enders in our series a run for their money. Yes the GSXR 1000 is some machine, Too fast for some of our roads, thats one thing I envy you guys, I*d like to come over there and cruise on some of those lovely wide long roads we see on the t.v. by the way what are you paying on average for the equivalent of 4 and a half litres of petrol, (I still think in gallons, shows my age) ;) LR4ME what is a servicar, a Harley I reckon, sounds like it could be worth a bit to a collector!! Yea the road here are very nice (No including the PA Turnpike Ha!). Funny thing is I want to come over the big pond myself and take some run on the Autobahn there... :D

Gas here for regular (which I would never put in my Hayabusa :) ) is about $3.00 (US) per gallon or $0.80/ liter. I filled up a couple days back and it was over $15.00!!!

I've all but parked my truck these days. The only time I drive it is when I need to haul my kids around...

Every god damn day I get to experience that fun. It would be awesome if I didn't have to go through 4 construction zones and past one state police barrack!

A Servicar is the old meter maid 3 wheel motorcycle. Top speed on her is(pushing it this is)55 :o I will get a pic an post it soon. Yes its a collector.

What :eek: ? Are you saying that a Harley can't handle tight turns :confused: ? You've got a thing or two to learn son :p

I ride a 99 FLHTPI, arguably one of the biggest bikes HD makes. It's a police cruiser. This thing hugs the road. I love taking corners way faster than I probably should. in the last 15000 miles, I've wore out my floorboards from scraping them when I turn.

But, I'm what I like to refer to as a lifestyle rider, not a weekend warrior.

Weekend warriors are different. Stereotypically they're interested in showboating. They're they guys that will go out and spend $20k on a bike and ride it when it's 50 degrees or warmer and a 50% or less chance of rain. And that's on the weekend only.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that in my circle of freinds, we ride big old touring models, cause we like to take trips.

;) Hey Dynamike, I like that bit about SON Its taken years of me, but its good to hear the Harley can cut it, But you dont see many around the Lake District in Northern England!!!, A few of my mates are big Harley fans and I must admit having ridden the Fat Boy I was impressed, but I love my sport/tourers. I agree with what you say about weekend warriors, like you I ride whatever the climate, although I give snow and the like a miss (bike cost too much) It was interesting to hear from TW1300 about your price of petrol, you lucky things if you are only paying 3$ a gall, that works out at £1.62p over here and we are paying £4.50 a gall and it said that it will go up more :eek: :eek: And if TW1300 comes over here at least he can go faster on the M roads 70/80mph is norm, and if the cops arnt around maybe 90/100mph. I believe 60 is your top limit? Ride safe all. ;)

Most of the freeways where I live are 70 mph tops.

If you come over here, I'll take you to The Natchez Trace (http://www.americanmotorcycleclub.co...ee/index.shtml). Not only does it have some twisties of its own, but it is beautiful country.

Hey there! I currently ride a '97 Yamaha Virago 750cc. Your basic cruiser of the 90's, focused on comfort and ride. I'm looking into a 2000+ VMax, the big power house of cruisers. In response to your question, no choppers aren't built for comfort. They're built to express the rider's style and personality. I've rarely seen choppers go on long runs simply because they're not built for comfort. They're loud and pretty, which isn't a bad thing with motorcycles anyway! To each his own I guess!

I have a 93 FLHTC and it handles the corners just fine. On another note, a friend of mine said that riding his Fatboy on the dragons tail was a blast. I always seem to scare whoever is riding with me when I scrape my floorboards to.:D

Welcome aboard Joker. Looks like the board changed since my last visit! I ride a 2000 DynaWideGlide and am satisfied with her handling and performance. If I was to go to a larger cruiser it would probably be that big ass Triumph but retirement forces me to stick with what I got.
