What do you have to do to get on the road!
 

In the USA do you have to have a annual roadworthy certificate for your bikes to prove that they are fit to be on the road and do you have to take some kind of test before you can ride a bike on the road. Over here in the UK Beginners have to take a written test and then a compulsory physical riding test before they are let loose on the roads as well as having their bikes power restricted for a period of time. Its supposed to make sure they are safe to be out, personally I"d make every vehicle driver spend a year on a bike before they got a car ect. Might make them a little bit more aware of bikes and less of the "Sorry mate, didnt see you" after they"ve brought you down. :eek:

All states license their riders, how it's done varies from state to state. Also, most states require inspections for motorcycle just as they do for cars. How that is carried out, and the frequency at which it is done....is again completely up to the states. It's weird...only in America.

Here in California at 15 ½ you can apply for a learners permit (with parental approval) :rolleyes: and after passing a written test be licensed to operate a motorcycle with the following restrictions. No passengers, no freeways, and no riding at night.
My first bike was a 90cc Honda which I managed to injure myself on a couple of times before my 16th birthday. :eek: I learned to look past my nose while riding and to slow down in sandy corners.
I don’t think there are any stipulations on the size of motorcycle you can ride! As Mongo stated earlier “only in America”.
