Hey everyone
Hi, i'm Matt. I'm hoping to get a motorcycle, but I'll have to wait until I turn 18 because my mom won't let me get a license. I was also wondering what a good bike would be for a beginner.

The best thing you can do for yourself is take a MSF course. The best bike is one tha you feel comfortable on. Welcome aboard!!

Good advice! I second that! also..........Welcome aboard from Augusta, GA. My parents wouldn't let me have a bike either. 3 days out of high school, I was in the Army, 6 months later I was in Germany. There I bought an old Norton, and with autobahns and youthful stupidity, I'm lucky to be here now. Take motorcycling serious and take a safety course regularly (I still take them) then the only dangers will be the other guy, its easier to watch out for idiots on the road when you are a competent and confident rider. Good luck, and have fun with your first bike! |
welcome to the forum!

Best advice is to just be careful. I see many newbies try to show off a bit too much early on and they usually end up paying for it.

Hi all, well put D.E.S., I'll throw in: KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS AND NEVER RIDE PAST YOUR ABILITIES!!! If you ride with a "I've got something to prove" attitude your just setting yourself up for a world of hurt.

Thanks for the advice everybody. I showed my dad the website for the MSF safety course, and he said he'd think about letting me take it when I turn 17. And I'm in Minnesota, by the way.
