How did I get here?
 

Hello everyone, My name is Travis and I live here in Denver, CO. I'm 34 and I have been building motorcycles from scraps for most of my life and have been riding since I was 6 years old. My interest vary but I have a fond affection for two stroke road bikes such as Yamaha RD's, Suzuki X6's, T500's, and other rare 2 stroke roadracers. Currently in my stable I have 18 complete runners and almost 30 projects and parts bikes. It's sad but due to the US EPA reg's the 2 stroke will go the way of the dino's after 2005. Preservation is now our only hope!

I just recently started a new business with a close friend and fellow rider. We call ourselves BLACKBALL CHOPPERS and specialize in rigid frames for British motors such as Trimph, BSA, and Norton. We currently offer a lean and mean stretch frame designed to run a 10" travel fork such as an old motocrosser that has been re-sprung for only 4-5" travel, and a 180 rear tire. The frame incorporates an "oil in the frame" backbone. Our motto is to eleminate all the extra crap that resides on most bikes. We don't want any wires showing, no visible battery, minimal gauges, a head and tail lamp only, etc... Our other design is the classic bob-job rigid with a springer seat and cruiser bars running conventional size tires on 16" and 21" rims.

The reason we began making British choppers was that we wanted a bar hopper style bike that would scare everyone around at the stop lights and still be economical to build and maintain, (unlike other Custom twins we know of!) It might sound corny but I want to be the Jesse James of the die-hard British Copper guys, that just don't give a damn about riding a $75,000 piece of artwork!

Welcome to the boards. Would be curious to see some photos of these creations. Have a website?

I've got an IT guy, that coincidentally I built a very fast RZ350 to race here in the MRA F2 class, who is going to put together a site for us as soon as we can get our shit together and give him all our info. Right know I have some conceptual drawings and tech data but I have not been able to finish photo's on our 2 completed runners. If I can scan these into PhotoShop I will post them to you guys for all to see!

Travis, nice to have you around. I like what you're doing with the british chops....sound like you have a sweet setup.

Be interested to see some of your work or hear more about the bikes you're building. If you can be jesse james of the british chops and maintain a reasonable price (in proportion to your cost) then you'll be really successful. Nothing against Jesse James or his crew, since they make some awesome bikes, but I couldn't ride them.....hell I'd have to refinance my house just to buy one. I like a chop that is that, a real life moto I can ride every day to work.

...on an age old concept. I have never seen a British bike that I would want to buy. That's just me but I do respect 'em for what they are and when one shows up at, say, "bikechurch" on Sunday morn' , an Enfield or whatever, they draw as much ooh and aaah as a tweaked Harley or a sizzlin' ass Suzuki road racer. That's definately a different market but different or not, that market is there. Cool endeavor, Bro. Welcome
