Introducing myself

Hello to all of you!

I just bought a Honda Rebel today and, already, I LOVE it. I've only ridden it around my neighborhood and have quite a ways to go before I would venture out onto real roads. Nonetheless, I am already planning all kinds of accessories for it - luggage rack, sissy bar, large, water-proof (not leather) sissy bar luggage, saddle bags, LED lights, headlight modulator, light bars, security system and some type of light-weight locking system.

Unfortunately, I am finding that, probably because this is a small bike, there aren't a whole lot of options for it. I'm really hoping that some of you folks on this forum might be able to give me some pointers on purchasing some of these items (also, I've noticed that if you buy them new from a motorcycle shop, they could cost an ARM and a LEG, which I don't have to spare!)

welcome to the forum

I can't help much on the Rebel, I've painted a few, but don't know much about the aftermarket for them. Watch ebay for some deals.
Some stock parts may be able to be chrome plated, that makes nice custom touches on exhaust brackets and such.

Thanks for the welcome! Even though I had originally thought I'd paint this bike a bright yellow (I'm BIG on visibility, since I'm no youngster any more!), I'm re-thinking that as I look at the beautiful metallic blue color. I'm thinking/hoping, maybe with enough LED lighting, a headlight modulator, and extra brake lights, maybe that'll be enough. Plus, I've got a NEON yellow jacket, day-glo orange gloves, and a bright yellow helmet. Yeah, I know for a lot of you tough-guys out there, I sound like a wuss, but I HATE doctors and hospitals and I fear any kind of disability far worse than death. Plus, with age comes a different perspective on things.

When I used to ride "back in the day" (30 years ago!), I was invincible and immortal. I took one trip over the handlebars but was very lucky to walk away with only a broken elbow. Somehow parenthood and its accompanying sense of responsibility - little people being DEPENDENT UPON ME - changed things a whole lot.

Wow! I can see you from here.
seriously, you can't be too careful, the biggest excuse for hitting a biker is "I didn't see him". I don't think you're a wuss for being cautious.
