Introductions.....Cape Town, South Africa

Greetings from a warm and sunny Cape Town here at the tip of Africa

Some of the best roads in the world, twisty bits to drool over, lots of mountain passes, some fast and straight highways, everything for everyone.

Recipe for a Smile

take 2 wheels (any two will do)
add motor (almost any will do - grunty twins or gutsy fours, take your pick)
mix in some good surfaces
add a rider lusting for some adventure
some long warm Sundays, some mates,
and there you have it - a perfect smile!! everytime!!

I love bikes - all of em - at the moment, its a 2005 Gixxer, but i will ride anything. Ok, maybe not everything, but almost.

Track days are my bread and butter, live for it....... just not enough time yet. Soon, so soon...can almost taste it!

Would love to hear from other riders in this area - or if you were thinking of coming over this way, drop me a line. Bikes can be rented by the day. Send email........

sounds like great riding in South Africa, some people have all the luck.

Welcome aboard. The riding you describe makes me jealous. I went for 40K ride today. Took me longer to bundle up than to do the ride.

pro's and con's

As with all good things, there are always some idiots who will try to ruin the fun:(
On Wedneday morning I encountered one of them.
Suffice to say, Bike Rider 0 - Car Driver 1.
I am ok now, still a little bruised but nothing broken (thank God!!)
The bike needs a new clutch housing cover, clutch lever and gear shift. Otherwise, the crash bobins and frame sliders did the job. I urge everyone reading this - its the best money on aftermarket parts you can spend. My plastics have a few scratches, but the frame, swingarm are ok. I need to replace the actual gear shift lever, so will be stripping down this weekend. Hopefully she will be ok and back on the road next week.

I know that you guys in the States have access to the most amazing aftermarket spares. I would really like to get a titanium clutch cover and would appreciate any leads to reputable online stores where I can go have a look. I may have to machine it myself, and thats not going to an easy job.

take care and ride safe - the cage drivers are out to get us!!!!
