New here, need advice on a bike...

Hi. I just completed the MSF course last week and was shopping for a bike. I saw this bike on Ebay that I really like, color, size, brand, etc, but I'm not sure if it's a good deal.
It's a 2005 GSXR 600 with 1684 miles on it, blue color. He has it on sale for 6 grand buy it now. Catch is it has minor scuff on the left hand side. Lowered, has Yoshi titanium slip on, tank protector fender eliminator with turn signals, frame sliders, comes with rear seat, has 3 yr warranty left. I mean it's very low in miles and looks good overall seeing the pictures posted, but I'm kinda worried if the scuff would lower the value of the bike significantly? Is 6 grand a good deal for this bike with minor scuff? If so, what questions should I ask before buying the bike. I heard for noobies bikes with minor damage are good to start cuz ur bound to fall neways. Thanks for your help.

p.s. - I couldn't post the link here but if you go to ebay motors-motorcycle suzuki- and nearest findings and type in 32117 you'll see the bike I'm talking about and they have 1 picture of left side with scuff mark. Thanks again.

It doesnt sound too bad but how long have you been riding?? I was riding for 6 months befor I took the course I have a 93 fzr600 and I am glad I bought an old bike to start out on cause I have dropped it numerious times. If you dont have much experience I would suggest buying a beater til you get more comfortable on 2 wheels. I was not happy when I dropped my 500 dollar bike I can only imagine what dropping a 6000 dollar bike would feel like.....YIKES

welcome to the forum.

That doesn't sound bad to me. How bad of a scuff is it? If its minor, it may not be much to repair. Is the scuff in an area that a decal could be used to cover it?

I wish I could post the link here but I can't. The scuff is very minor, you can barely see it even with the closeup shot, it's like little white dots like scratch marks and it's mostly towards the lining of the body, not the actual body, I dont know how that's even possible but it is. Does it affect the value of the bike a lot? Cuz if I wanna sell it later on down the line, I don't want it coming back to bite me in the butt. It is a really nice bike, if it wasn't for the scuff I woulda gotten it by now. Thanks.

sounds about right but what about freight?, you might check out something local that you can actually test ride.
be surprised what you can find in paper or auto trader
and you can ride it home.

I live about 25 mins away from Deltona, which is where the seller is, but from what I hear most people don't let people test ride their bikes cuz they might crash it, wreck it, etc. Autotrader has bikes? I didn't even know that. Thanks for the advice.
p.s. - It's the only 2005 blue gsxr 600 on ebay for 6 grand buy it now price by the way, in case anybody wants to tell me about the scuffs...thanks in advance.

Deltona between Daytona and Orlando right?
well bikes there are always a bit higher so this sounds like
a good deal
2005 GSXR 600
kelly blue book says they are worth about $6300

Here is one for less
http://www.consignall.ca/browse/listing-11862.html

suzuki wants $8300

you can always remove tank and repaint or if real minor decal
so it doesnt sound like you are being ripped off no
but then remember
Buyer Beware..
if you can get a mechanic to look at it even better

Gsxr 600.

A minor scuff means nothing. As this would be your first bike i would'nt worry about this scuff as you will create your own scuffs as time goes by. I don't mean you are going to fall off or anything but a minor scuff! Thats a good deal for the price. You should ask how this mark was made and check out the side of the mark and see is there anymore marks. A good look at that side and see if the bar weights are marked or the lever. Make sure the lever is not bent as that states the bike took a smack off the ground. You should go with a friend to view the bike and get them to look over the bike in view of the owner. If there is anything wrong the owner will say as there would be two of you there. Saying all this it still sounds like a fair deal for the bike.

Borg.
