Getting my feet wet

I have not ridden a street bike for 20+ years and I'm thinking about buying a bike for cruising on weekends. I have been told by friends to start with something small.

Any thoughts on the subject?

20 plus years, you are probably looking for a cruiser. I would reccommend a metric bike. They make many smaller cc models, that appear larger than they really are. Still very easy to manage in traffic, and enough power to keep up on rides. Great starter bikes.
My favorite small cruiser is a Suzuki C-50, this bike can look really sweet with a few custom touches. Here's an example of a C-50, brand new, total investment less than $11,000. Most of the neighbors think its a 25K Harley!

Custom paint, custom taillight, (the old taillight was big and bulky), windshield, floorboards, Cobra exhaust. See More at www.beyondthepaintinc.com

The Kawasaki Vulcan is also a good starter bike.

a good starter bike is the suzuki intruder 800 it has a street bike look and can keep up with the big boys
but check some out it depends what FEELS right to you,how tall you are ect..

I have a Suzuki VS800 Intruder it is my first bike and I absolutely love riding it. I am a member of PGR and have never had a problem keeping up with the bigger bikes.

Welcome Robbiex - I'm new here to. I've been riding mostly as a passenger for about 20 years. I think i'm ready to get on my own two or three wheels very soon! I hope to learn more on this board about what my next step will be.

Ride Safe!
