2004 Road King Custom

I was in College Station Tx this week (home of Texas A&M). I stopped by the local dealer Russ Welch H-D to get a tee shirt, and see if there might be a piece of chrome I need for my bike. As I walked in the front door it was like I stepped into a time warp or something.....time seemed to stand still because there in front of me sat a 2004 Road King Custom, and it was in my favorite 2 colors...Vivid Black & lots of Chrome :D. I stopped dead in my tracks, I hadn't expected to see any 04's yet. I drooled over this bike for probably 15 mins. or so.
My first impressions were...loved the beach bars, they would be very comfortable for all day cruising. I loved the clean uncluttered look of the sheet metal. Sometimes less looks better, there is no pin stipping, and no fender trim. The seat is like all stock Harley seats....a piece of shit, hard as hell and not good for more than a few miles without making your ass feel like someones been kicking it. A good Mustang, or Corbin would cure this problem quickly. The only other thing I didn't like was the little chrome wind deflector thingy that is attached to the headlight nacelle. But the thing can be removed, so if I were to buy one of these bikes I would take that thing off before I ever left the dealers parking lot.
Overall this is a really sweet factory custom that is sure to be a big seller. I plan on keeping my FatBoy, but as soon as it's paid off there will be a new Road King sitting beside it in the garage. And it will either be the Classic, or maybe the new Custom.....

FBR

Road King custom was what I was going to off the Fatboy for. They are a bad ass bike for sure. I decided to keep the fatboy for now, and aspire to the Road King later on. Sure are sweet though. I was in St Joe Missouri the other day, Tuesday I think, and they had a fatboy on the floor that was bad ass. I got a few ideas for mine, and decided to hang on to her.

you guys need Road Kings! mine's gettin ape hangers this winter and custom paint. caving to the trendy thing, it's too bad ass to not do it.

FBR, (or soon to be RKR)

You have it right, I saw one yesterday and it was wonderfull. All white and chrome, I perfer the Black and chrome or white and orange two tone, but the all white looked kool. I realy like the new clean RK custom. I might have one soon and when the Fatboy is fixed, it will just sit for specal handle bar gripping bar-hopping rides. You can never have tomany bikes.

saw this on Ebay... this is what i'm gunna do to my RK this winter. my friend is making the sissy bar for me. i like all the spikes in place of nuts and bolts. love the black front end too. so many little details on this bike that make it bad-ass.

WooHoo, that's a damn fine pic of that bike. I think apes on a RK are cool as shit, looks cool when you see a dude riding one like that....tall and wide.

The pic is of a Police model RK, that's why it has the black front end - around here there are a bunch of Police model RK's at the dealership for sale. Miles around 8-9k, easy-open bags, good maintanance records, and sometimes cool trinkets attached to them.

ya, I did know it's a Police Model...I really like them, and it's tempting to unload my current RK and get a police model, but I think I'll just stick with my civilian model and make the mods. I know my bike inside and out and have a few of those mods already done like the seat, straight pipes etc. i'm going to do everything in that picture plus put a hinged tail dragger fender on mine. not sure if i'll go with the black front end or not...

Thanks for the info. How would one go about purchasing a ticket? I'm from out of state, would they allow that? Is there a number available to call? I followed the link, and there wasn't much more information there. I would be interested. Love that bike.

I agree. I was going to order the Classic this year until I saw the Custom. IT's the one for me. Should be in before too long. It's a bad bike. Nice departure from the RK and the RK Classic.

Both the Road King Classic and Custom look good but I still like my standard. I like the looks of ape hangers on a Road King but I'm vertically challenged and wouldn't be able to reach them. WooHoo, good luck with your mods. Post a picture when you're through.
