Buying My 1st Bike From A Private Seller

Hi. I'm looking to buy a 2004 gsxr 600cc with 8200 miles on it from a private seller in the same city. He wants 5900 but as with any used vehicle sales I gotta hustle the price. I'd like suggestions on how low I should go without being totally ridiculous, I was thinking 5400 maybe? The kbb says a lil over 5800 for this bike. Of course cash in hand does the trick but any suggestions would be helpful.

This is my first time purchasing a bike so naturally I'm a complete noob. Can somebody explain to me what a typical bike title looks like(color, what it should say, etc.) and how to make sure the title is legit. Also any key notes on what I should look for as far as inspecting the bike such as damages, where I should look to see if the bike has any major problems, etc. I know that's a lotta questions but I need the help. Thanks in advance.

p.s. - any other comments, suggestions, advice, warnings, pictures, yo mama jokes, ANYTHING! would be appreciated, thank u.

kelly blue book says about $5800 retail value but that depends on condition and mileage
and as I told other guy
Buyer Beware
if you can get a mechanic to look at it all the better

Nothing says that you can't take it to a mechanic and have them look at it. Unless the seller doesn't want to let you take it. That is their choice. Of course you will probably have to pay for the mechanic. Maybe take a friend with you who knows about bikes.

Hmm...

Ask him if he has had any offers. Tell him you plan on spending cash and make him tell you another price. I'm always in the market for something good. When i bought my NEW car from a dealer I got them to drop it 2500 before we even sat down. Like you said Money talks. Have him give you another price then try dropping it like another 200 from there. Emphasize that you have CASH!

/\dealers will never let you win i know that for a fact since i work at one. other than that if your gunna buy your first bike and dont know about bikes or cant et anyone that does to go with you then just go to a dealer because they generally have more reliable stuff, or if not you can at least complain to them when it gets messed up.

Good luck with the bike, I was also looking into the GSX-R 600s. When you get it lemme know how it rides, I still have to sway my parents but if i can it'll be my first bike too. If i cant sway them ill just get it when i turn 18 in little over a year haha. As for the title i would assume that it looks alot like a car title but thats just my assumtion. Cant help with anything else thou seeing how im a total noob too when it comes to bikes, sorry. But anyways again good luck
