I'm a new guy here and have some...
Alright, I'm new to riding and am very interested in buying a bike. I've been looking extremely hard and doing a lot of research on the 749S, I was wondering if anyone has any other info about that bike? I'd like to know if that bike has any quirks about it, Anything would be helpful... even your opinion on the bike :D thanks, :)

Welcome, I don't know shit about Ducati's, sorry, but again, welcome!! :D

Don't mind Phat-Boy, he doesn't know shit about anything...except titty bars.
I love Ducati's, think they are the best sport bike going for the money. I'm not that familiar with the 749s - mainly been around Monsters and the Sport Touring models. I do know that if you keep the regular maintainance up on the bike, they are pretty solid. They're maintainance schedule is kinda aggresive, but pretty exact and can get expensive. A guy I work with has a ST4s and loves it to death. Even for a sport tourer, the thing moves and is very nimble. I'd go talk to a local dealer about it, they may be able to give you more details or even a test ride. |
mmmmm, titty bars...

WooHoo's got my back! I don't know much, but I know titties!!

Thanks, guys... I'm just tryin to figure out what I should buy, everyone around where I live all have the japanese bikes, I mean yeah, those jap bikes are fast as hell... but they've almost become too mainstream, I just wanna be different, If you guys have anymore suggestions on what to get let me know.... I'm looking for something in the 600-750cc range. thanks! :D

Seriously, Ducati's are really nice bikes. BMW's are nice too. just depends on your purpose. What are you looking to do? What type of riding? My advice would be ro ride all the bikes you can, and find the one that fits you best. Might or might not end up being a Duc.

I work with a fellow biker that rides a yellow 749 every day in San Francisco to work. He loves it and it sounds great. When I had my 69 triumph, I rode with a friend on an older red duke. It was fast and would out run anything on the road including my 69 Triumph. Buy what makes you smile when ridding and never look down on any other make of bike.

I'm not looking down on any bikes, I'm just trying to be different from the rest of the crowd. After all, I've narrowed my search to three bikes... a Triumph Daytona, GSX-R 600, and the 749. Of the 3 which one is most comfortable? I'm looking for a bike I can just have fun with... take it out when its nice outside and cruise, I'm not getting a bike to be stupid on.

All 3 are fine bikes. I would just ride all 3 and see what you like. I've had many Suzuki's, and they are great sportbikes. Never ridden a Duc or a Triumph. Ride them all, make a choice from there.

"...jap bikes are fast as hell... but they've almost become too mainstream, I just wanna be different..."
Ducatis are becoming mainstream now too. Now that they can actually go on a 150 mile ride without breaking down they have gone the way of Harley Davidson with boutique shops full of clothing and watches and jewelry. The only way to be different is to build your own bike. From scratch. |
Welcome aboard. Afraid I can't help you with Ducati's. I'm a Harley guy. Back in my younger days I had a yen for sport bikes and a Ducati was first on my list. You seem to have gotten some advice from those in the know here. Good Luck and again welcome aboard.

Ive had an 04 gsxr600 in the past, loved it! had to sell due to financial status. Just bought an 06 traditional blue and white with the pretty blue rims, cant wait to ride it. Ever since i got my first gsxr ive been hooked. Absolutely love them, Has never done me wrong! Thats my input about one of your 3 picks! |
