Interested in buying a bike

The gas prices are killing me, and I love wind. This will be my first bike purchase and my budget is really tight. I was wondering if anybody could give me any advice on what is good (and cost effective) to look for while I'm perusing craigslist? I'm terrible at buying stuff, and if I'm not careful I'll end up buying a left shoe without laces and a rusty teakettle for 1000 dollars.

What experience do you have with motorcycles? Do you have a style in mind, sport bike, cruiser? Make sure you check the blue book before buying.

You should get a Hayabusa.

I would deffinately avoid buying a used sport bike. More times than not, they've been ragged out, no end.

The vast majority of cruisers are better cared for as they're not ridden as hard and not laid down half as much as a hottrodder that got a sport bike, laid it down a few times and then decided enough was enough.

Make sure you check the sprockets when buying. It's the tell all of how a bike has been cared for and ridden.

Regards,
Parminio

If you are fond of sport bike, I advise you to buy the bike of Suzuki. The quality is very good. And I think that you don't have to worry about gas price because most of the Suzuki sport bikes cost not much gas. They are very economic.

Get a 250ish naked bike...
Enough power to keep up with traffic, but not enough for a noob to loose control to easily.
Naked as any drops the damage will be minimal.

New riders on superbikes are new riders who never get old.
