Mustang seats
A few days ago I bought a Mustang "wide touring" seat for my FatBoy.....it has got to be the most comfortable seat I have ever ridden on, and I have ridden on a lot of different seats through the years. I had read lot's of positive comments from folks about how they would never ride on anything else but a Mustang. Well I will say that now myself.
The stock seat on my FatBoy was hard as a brick, after about 100 miles my ass would be killing me. I bought a low profile custom stiched Harley seat at the dealer, it's a lot better than the stock, but the rear pillion is very narrow, and hard. So it was only good for solo riding, no passengers. Well, I decided to try a Mustang, and the lady at Mustang's headquarters told me to ride on it for 10 days, if I didn't like it to send it back for a full refund......well she ain't getting my seat back !!!!! HELL NO !!! FBR:cool: |
You know FBR, I have been in the market for a new seat for quite a while. Appreciate the tip. They sell Mustang up at J&P, so I may have to take a ride up there and check them out. I was going to get a HD Badlander, but I was concerned about the passenger pillion as well. Figured I'd just put the stock one back on when me and the lady rode. The stock one is pretty worthless for long rides, that's for sure!

I don't like soft seats on motorcycles, I like 'em hard as a brick and low as possible. I have a LaPera Daytona Smoothie in my Road King. It's like sitting down in the battery tray, awesome. I can ride that seat all day every day. For some reason soft seats make me very uncomfortable. The way I look it is, after spending ten years racing bicycles, even a relatively hard motorcycle seat is like a cadillac in comparison. But each to his own I suppose. Glad you like your Mustang seat. I've heard lots of good things about them.

I'm looking for a new seat and have been looking for a while. My stock Fatboy seat frame is cracked and needs to be replaced. I'll check out the Mustang seat line.
Thanks |
Just bought a HD Badlander seat, I'll let you know what I think when I get back to Iowa and put it on. You can get them off Ebay for less than $200.

i like the look of the Badlander. hope you like it.

Ok, got some miles on the Badlander, and so far it's not too bad. Better than stock for sure, but for a long ride, I may consider something else. Nice seat for the money, but not for cross country rides. But a little over 100 on Sunday, and felt good afterwards, more than I can say for the stocker.

I've had 11 bikes, 3 of them Harleys, and I wish I'd heard of Mustang a long time ago. Like your sofa, very durable and studded and concho'd for that jaunty retro Harley look. I even had my saddlebags custom made to match the seat. Don't forget to clear coat the silver studs so they don't rust. I'd buy another Mustang in a heartbeat. Wife likes the p-pad too:cool:

benttrent,
What kind of dam tacos are you eating? :-) |
It took 4 days for my Mustang seat to arrive and I was at first disapointed. It was like a plank with leather streached over. After trying it for a few thousand miles. I changed my mind. It is stiff yes but very comfortable. No back ache, no numb ass. It works great. I like the looks and the ride.

Rapido, good to hear from you ! Glad you got you a Mustang, if you put in lot's of miles the Mustang is hard to beat for all day riding.
So, how have you been? Have you been on any cross country rides this summer? Good to hear from you my brother, ride safe. FBR  |
Rapido, by the way Mongo & Phat-Boy are in Milwaukee for the H-D 100th anniversary party, so I guess we need to hold down the fort till they get back.
