Project of the week
Well many of you have probably read the post about my solo seat conversion. Well I took the seat off and.....the hole is stripped. So went to the J&P catalog, got the blind nut kit, which also takes care of the stripped hole, and of course got a dressier bolt to put on.
Next step, saddlebag quick releases, which should really not be a problem. After that I would like to take off the passenger floorboards and see what I can do with the looks from there. Slimmin' down for this ridin' season, I'll post a pic when I get her to where I want this year. Later. |
Ghost Brackets are one idea but interfear with the stock removable back rest.

Mongo,
"Bubba's" has the quick connect brackets for your bags that will work with the H-D detachable backrests. They look pretty nice & clean when the bags are removed. I am planning on getting some bags myself , and I want to have the option of taking them off. I have a detachable backrest that I will want to use also , so the "Bubba's" look like the way to go... here's their website.http://www.bubbasbrake.com/ Ride SAFE FatBoyRider  |
Bubba's are actually the ones I've been looking at. A little pricey, but the look is all good. Take care.

Your right, They look much better and stronger than the Ghost Bracket. That will be on my project for this fall and winter. RapidoRaptor |
Mongo,
are you talking about the old style post mounted solo? I love those things. When I get done w/all the mechanical reconditioning on my shovel that's what I believe I'm going to. I'll be looking for an old 1925 police type seat that's a little worn. I kinda like the worn rat look. Good luck OY |
No, I"m not putting the post seat on.
An update about my 'little' project though: Ever start something little and make it into something big. Yeah, that's me all the way. Ya take the saddle bags off and go, "hey ya know while I have these off I should......" Yeah, well this has been going on for about a week now, and I went from 'just going to take care of these couple things" to.....standing there scratching my head wondering where I put my fenders? To sum it up, my father in law stopped by and the exact quote was, "Who's bike your workin' on now?"....yeah...I'll have to post before and after pics. Take care all, hopefully I'll be done today...clean it up....and get out for a ride. |
