Single down tube conversion

Ive got a Paucho rigid for a Evo XL and am bored with it. So im gonna start cutting.............AGAIN!! Heres my thoughts....stretch up and forward, rake, and a massive single down tube. Heres my question..whats the easiest way to fab up a jig to keep everything straight and be able to adjust the rake and measure for trail?? This is my first attempt at stretching a frame. Ive got the welding/machining knowledge and equipment....just dont know where to start.

Well, you started at the right place...and asked yourself a complicated question.

Don't start with a jig, but pull out a piece of paper and do some geometry and advanced planning first. After you know what you what out of the changes (which you might already)...break everything down into steps. You might not need a complicated rigging for each step...maybe something simple for each task you need to take care of.

I've found when I'm doing some customizing work that I tend to get carried away with the overall task....Seeing the forest and not the trees in the forest sorta thing. It takes time, and usually a couple 're-dos' - but every project is a learning experience.

So to sum it up, I have no clue how to build the jig you're looking for, but when you finish I bet you do and you're a better builder for it. Let me know how it works out.

havent decided where to start yet. I can visualize what i wanna do.....but getting there is another story. I need to build a jig to hold then neck in the right position so i can fab up the new tubing. Im thinking of making a simple right angle type jig and just tack welding the lower frame rails to it to keep it secure. Then run a vertical beam out front in the desired stretch to hold the steering head. I might just start cuttin.....if i fuk up im only out a crappy Paugcho frame.
