very stupid question
 

OK, I am asking a really "dumb blonde" question. I am going on a road trip this summer and need to have suggestions on packing. I have saddlebags. My husband has saddlebags but is reluctant to put them on. I think we should do laundry along the way so I don't have to look like a pack horse. Any suggestions. We will be gone for about a week. Remember, I am a typical woman who has a tendancy to over pack. LOL

my wife packs 3 suit cases, just for a weekend

my stuff is in a grocery bag

If you are going to pack for a week, for me....I'd be able to pack everything I need in the saddlebags...and wouldn't have to do any wash.

For a woman, I would pack as much as you can into those saddle bags, spare the makeup and hair accessories (you'll be in the wind anyway) and put some detergent and dryer sheets in there too. If you start running out, find a laundromat.

:eek: I am a hairdresser, I can't live without my makeup and flat iron! Those are necessities of life!

I am not sure of a magical packing process that will help you, but I have a few suggestions. I would not wait until the night before you are going to leave to pack. I would put on the saddlebags now. Get everything that you WANT to take and see if you can make it fit. Try different ways of stacking, folding, rolling, and turning it and see what gets you the closest. Then reduce your “to take” items to what you can ACTUALLY take. Make a list of what your are taking and remember how you packed it. Make sure the things that you will need during the days ride like sunscreen, meds, rain gear, and tools are on top. Good luck and have fun.

Hotels or campgrounds at night?If you are staying at hotels most of them have laundry facilities,and most of the larger campgrounds do as well.Lets you take only two days of "riding" clothes,plus a "cold" and a "wet"option without using up all your space.Aerostitch(riderwearhouse) has a LOT of stuff for motorcycle camping if you will be doing this often enough to justify the expense,and they are great.Hope this helps-
