dual purpose
I would like any suggestions on the best allrounder.
I want to buy a bike to use in Belize.
Belize is sub tropical and is very hot and humid and is often very, very, wet with lots of water crossings.
There are very few if any, outlets for spares in Belize and even fewer places to take it for maintenance. I will be using it for both on and off road mainly off as most off the roads are not paved.
I am not sure if best is air-cooled/water cooled
Ive been told by many that XT's are the way to go but need more info.
I am not much of a machanic or to be truthful have even much riding experience but Belize is the ideal place to get me back in seat
any help on which bike would be best would be great

Depending on your build, the Yamaha XT 225 is a good mid to smaller sized bike. Also, the Kawasaki KLX 250. Both of these are good off roaders and have some respectable street manners as well. Not over torqued so you won't have to worry about dumping them accidently but strong enough to pull through stream crossings, up hills. You didn't say what you'd be hauling - these will pull you but if you are loaded down, maybe the Suzuki DR 400.
Only problem I could foresee with the Kawasaki might be the 1.9 US gal tank - not a big deal if you are going along easy but if its rough, you may want to carry some extra fuel.
Hope this helps.
Oh yeah - the Honda XR 650 above is a good one too. And don't forget about the Kawasaki KLR 650 as well if the bigger bikes are more to your liking.

I think some smaller bikes like 200 cc is best for dual purpose... i think almost of the brands have a small motorcycles...
