Default 20W-40 versus 20W-50

Well guys here is the problem. I have a Yamaha 850 1980 as you all know already. It recommends SAE 20W-40. I can't find this type of oil anywhere. Has this oil been discontinued or something? Will 20W-50 work? What do you guys recommend. Im new to the biking thing so I dont know too much about what the SAE oil ratings mean. Thanks

I have the 05 roadstar, you can get the Yamalube its a semi synthetic from them its 20w-40 but the 50 weight will work, and in a colder weather may work better.
I have switched to a full synthetic myself

as I have a Barnett clutch and it wont slip and I can get more miles between changes.
