Default Hello and Need Feedback

Hi All, everyone has been calling me Gibby (among other names) since Vietnam. I have been riding on 2 wheels since I was 10 or 11. I have had some good bikes over the years, and some I wished I still had. My last and favorite Bike was a 1973 Harley FLH with the hard bags and windshield. I must of got one of a kind, because I had no vibration at all anywhere and it never ever leaked other than from the chain oiler. However, I had to sell my FLH about 20 years ago and have not owned a bike since then. Though, I have road some other peoples bikes, including my sons R6 (who is about to graduate from MMI in Orlando), over the years.

Right now I am looking to buy a new V-Twin, but just can't afford to buy a Harley Road King. And, I have not kept up with all the new bikes. So far I have tried out the Yamaha Stratoliner, VStar 1300 and 1100. But eliminated the 1100 right away and also can't stand the Royal Stars Speedometer cause have trouble seeing it. Liked the V Star 1300 alot except do not like the speedometer etc. not being on the Tank. It's a Harley thing I guess. But, I saw the Kawasaki Nomad and other 1600's the other day and I really liked the very clean looks etc. I briefly saw the 1300 and 1800 Hondas too. I am trying to set up test rides with the Nomad and Yamaha Road Star.

But, I would appreciate any input on these or other V-Twins. Any Info would greatly be appreciated.

Thanx Alot

I have an 05 roadstar midnight special, have put 24,000 miles on it since june of 05.
I have had to replace a valve stem seal (warranty) at 5500 miles
new clutch at 15000 miles ( put in Barnett clutch and switched to full synthetic from yamalube semi)
and need to bring it in to have fuel gauge sensor replaced (warranty)
some times the crome spedometer on tank reflects sun in my eyes thats a pain, and I hate the rev limiter( kicks in to soon in first for my liking)
it has 1700 cc's and cruises nice and has a lot at top end.
over all it is a nice bike-put 2.75 longshots and hyper charger on mine
thinking of changing out bars so I can sit back a bit more.
I like the forward controls and floorboards as I have long legs and can stretch out.
But has been a reliable bike over all and tires are not to expensive to replace and they are whitewalls.

Thanx for the welcome BeyondThePaintInc. Checked your site and looks like you do excellent work. I can wrench and wire but, when it comes to what you do, I am a lost cause.

XaXer, Your bike looks really cherry and you have it set up very similar to my old FLH.

Missed out on any test rides today but went to Barnett Harley Davidson and looked around some. I really like the Road King Classic and Custom
