First of all hails to everybody.

I read a few reviews about 1 litre supersports, and judging by what I read CBR 1000RR seems like the most manageable/easy to ride in that category. Could somebody shed some light on this?

Is this bike "friendly" to newer riders? I don't mean total novices, but someone like me who has about a year and a half of riding experience on a 600 V-twin sport bike. Or is it just as mean and aggressive as GIXXER 1000's, ZX 10R's and R1's?

my personal view of Hondas is that they can be just as mean and aggressive as the other bikes but Honda elevates their state of tune and quality such that when riding the bike non-aggressively they are smooth as silk and sedate, near to the point of boring. Yamaha might be next to being that way, and Kawi and Suzuki have a rougher edge to them. Just my personal view based on what I read and input from friends.
Secondly, I think a CRR1000RR would be a fine bike for someone with respect for the beast and some decent experience packed into a year and a half of riding. Now if you've only ridden 500 miles in a year and a half that's another story.

Thanks for replying. Well, I have a couple of thousand kilometers under my belt with my previous bike, it was an SV 650S to be exact. All of the riding I did was around the city (Toronto) and prior to getting into biking I did a riding course and got properly licensed. I am 25 btw and most of my riding is just cruising around and having "simple" fun, no stunting or anything like that, I like to ride on highways a lot too.

I sold the SV a few months ago and I want to get something with enough power so that I won't have to "upgrade" again anymore. I love the 1 liter supersports but am not sure if they are a bit too much for someone like me to handle. I got a very good deal on a GSXR 1000 2003 model, but am having second thoughts about it now, because we all know what kind of a beast that bike is, and after hearing the 2004 R1's are even more mean! than the Gixxer, I decided not to go with either of these two.

I know CBR 1000RR is in the same category but reviews make it look like it's a more "down to earth" bike, not as wild as others in it's class.

Know of any good in depth 1000RR reviews?

 

can't think of any reports exactly right now, but it seems to me that the big magazines just recently did all the comparison testing (within last 3-4 months) between the liter class bikes. I think your thinking is going in the right direction. You have some real reason why the CBR better fits your personality and riding style and you are probably correct in thinking so. Do a search on the 'net for "superbike comparisons" or something like that. For sure you will not have to upgrade anymore unless it just comes down to wanting something different looking. BTW, have you seen the Repsol CBR1000RR replica? oh my god. My pants explode every time I see it. Get one!

 

Well, I did a search and found a few reviews comparisons etc etc and they all say the same, bike is "easy" to handle considering it's power, but if you rev it enough it becomes a beast. I guess if kept below let's say 6 000 the bike is going to act "civilized"

Hey! it's like you are reading my mind about the GSXR 750!!! That's the bike I originally wanted to get and am still thinking about it but the problem is they are all gone! sold out, the 2004 models.

I spoke to a local dealer and they gave me some rather high CBR prices though, so I am now having second thoughts about the 1000RR it costs too much.

I have to seriously consider the 750 now, it's on top of the list.

the GSX-R750 might just be the perfect sport bike. seriously. 750 cc's just makes a ton of sense. If I wasn't such a ***** I'd ride one. I like six-hunnerts. I like how you have to go looking for the power. That's fun.

HA HA! Man, I was just repeating what you said. I mean no harm. Back in the day when I had my GSXR 1100 with 157 HP maybe I could talk some smack. Now I just got the Fatboy, she's got like 78 HP. It's all good!!!

 

Well, today I bought a GSXR 750 2005, and am picking it up in March.

Well, they are supposed to get a new shipment of bikes in about 2 weeks, but since it's middle of winter here in Toronto, it's impossible to ride the bike and I would rather they keep it stored in a heated and clean dealership garage then have it in my below freezing garage sitting for a few months till the snow is gone.

But who knows, maybe I do end up getting it earlier.
