Default Blue Ridge Parkway/Deal's Gap

Hey all,

Just got back today from 6 days and 1800 miles on the bike with 11 other guys. We traveled from Wisconsin to the Smoky Mountain's and Blue Ridge Parkway. Our end destination was Deal's Gap, otherwise known as Dragon's Tail, which consists of 318 curves in 11 miles up in the moutains. Due to some not so decent weather, not all of us went up there the first day, and one of the guys that did, was involved in an accident, so we decided not to return the next day. All in all it was a great trip and I got to see a VERY beautiful area that I'd never been to before.

We traveled to Lexington, Kentucky the first day. Then on to Gatlinburg, Tennessee the 2nd. We stayed there for the 3rd day as well, and then on to Boone North Carolina. We then traveled through Virginia, West Virginia and on to Norwalk, Ohio. We then returned to Kenosha today and unforturnately back to reality.

If you've never been the the Tennesse/Kentucky/North Carolina area before on your bike, I HIGHLY recommend it as it has great mountain roads and beautiful scenery.

I've done that ride through the smoky's in a jeep and also on a bike, and both times it was freakin' great. Amazing scenery, lots of great places to stop.

Sounds like you had a good time Kenosha, lots of miles on such a great trip. Too bad about the accident, that can ruin any trip or ride, but it could have been worse.

Hope this nice weather is reaching you out there too. Take care.

Default The Dragon

I'll agree, there are some of the best roads in the country here!
One of my buddies here is local BRAG group leader........The best bike for the dragon.....is a Buell XB12R. I live here, and the Buells always kickass on the Dragon! It's all about torque, shooting from turn to turn!

Kenoshacop. Hey man, welcome back. Long time no see.

Glad you had a good time down there. I've heard great things about it. One day I'll get there.

Your pretty close to me there in WI, you got any buddies up there looking for a Fatboy?

Default Deals Gap

Glad you enjoyed your trip-I'm getting the shakes to go on one soon. We live so close to the area that we do day rides to Deals Gap (with a lowered softail I usually just try not to get hit by someone passing) or Gatlinburg, Cherokee, The Cherohala (sp) Skyway, all that good stuff. I read all of the time about guys riding lots of miles to get to this area. I really think most of us who live here take it for granted! Glad you and your buds had a good trip. Hope the accident wasn't too bad!
