Question Daytona BikeWeek

Anyone planning on going? I'm considering driving there in a rented minivan (solved the accomodation) from 5-7 march. That's the last weekend, supposed to be the best time to go (and the busiest)

Thumbs down No way !!!

I went once for Bike Week.....rained on my *** all the way there...most of the time I was there....and all the way back. I don't think I've ever been more miserable in my life. If I ever go again, I'll go for Biketoberfest. The weather is too unpredictable in March, and usually very nice in October.

Default Daytona Bike Week

I went to the last fall rally and stayed at the Buffalo Chip campground at the speedway. Nice rally and the Chip is the way to go. Party all night and walk back to your tent. The Daytona cops are a real pain. Almost Gestapo, they were everywhere and usually had a radar gun in their hand.

Wink I go to....

both... Biketoberfest and Bike week. March does suck... lots of reasons why but weather is a big one at the front of the list.
I go every year because I live 75 miles to the south, and the editors I work for insist on it. Guess they figure since I live so close they don't have to listen to anyone bitch about how much it cost... or what a pain in the *** it is.

A new trend has begun in the past 5 years or so... Bike Week is becoming statewide... it's not just Daytona anymore! Orlando is becoming a popular spot to go for Bike Week, Lots of good events going on... way less traffic... cops are cooler... (they aren't towing "suspect" bikes off from parking lots leaving an unsuspecting owner wondering WTF and bikeless for his trip home...) Also Cocoa Beach (Brevard county, or aka the Space Coast,) is also becoming a favorite spot for bikers after making their pilgrmage to "Mekka." Cocoa Beach and the Brevard county area has long been very "biker friendly." Many bikers will head for the south... Miami... Ft Lauderdale, Key West... spend the first part of the week there, and then head to Daytona on Friday and Sat.

Biketoberfest of 04 was the first year for the Buffalo Chip at the speedway, and it was a blast... had a great time there and the price for camping is SOOOO REASONABLE!!!! Best thing is... everything is provided for ya there... clean showers... good entertainment... the chance to meet some really great friends both old and new... and beer... yup lots of beer available for your drinking pleasure... and you can stumble, roll, crawl, slither, or use any other mode of forward or backward motion in order to get back "home" to pass out. Only bikes are allowed in... no cars... Motorhomes are accepted, but I beleive once in ,,,you stay in... no in and out access, once you leave that's it... I think... not sure.

OK folks see ya later
