Red face Changing rear tire

Hi all- I need a new rear tire on my 1979 Harley-Davidson XL1000 that I bought last spring. Years ago, I drove a 1981 Yamaha 650 Special and probably changed the rear 3 times. I also pulled the rear on my 1984 Honda Magna V40 which was shaft drive. Is this basically the same thing on my Harley? I hate to drive the bike to the shop and have them do it if I can do it myself. Or is it better to let the boys at the shop do it and pay them? If this is as easy as my '81 Special then enough said. Any thoughts?

You might have done it already but if you have changed the rear tire on other bikes then you should be able to do it on your sporty. I would do my own but I don't have a way to balance it at home
