I've just started using synthetic in my '03 dyna low rider and I have a problem in reading the oil level on the chrome plated dipstick on the tranny. I filled to the H-D recommended 24 oz but it seems as though the oil does not appear on stick until I have put in 28-29 oz. In my owner's manual it shows (approximate) next to amount. What the heck dictates when approximately is too much? What amount, if any, is harmful?

 

Check the level of the tranny after the bike has been warmed up to proper operating temperature.
