Default Trying to find the right bike.

I'm a 25 year old plumber/college student employed at the local university. I am currently taking a 16-week version of the MSF Basic Rider Course at the university where I work. I'm looking to purchase my first motorcycle in a couple of months, so I'm looking to experienced riders for advice on selection. I'm looking for a cruiser to use on my daily commute as well as leisurely rides on the weekends. I'm married and hope to take my wife with me from time to time after I've gained some experience. Everything I've looked at so far has a maximum weight capacity in the neighborhood of 400lbs. I'm a pretty big guy and my wife and I have a combined weight around 500. Does anyone have any suggestions for some bikes that may be suitable?
