Default Shhhhh!

I'm with you FBR, it's been awefully quiet around here. I check daily myself, but nothing. Guess I could have posted something, but I didn't want to put you all through my ramblings. Got some new Turn Signals for my girl on Saturday, installing tonight. I'll post some before and afters when I get her all done.

Default Spread the word

I know how you felt. I'd come to the forums, and see my name on 5 posts, so I figure maybe people get a little sick of me. Thought I'd give it a rest for a while.

About spreading the word, I've been telling as many riders as I can about the site. I'm buying some glasses off Ebay now for my lady, and told the guy I am buying them from about the site. He's got an 02 Fatboy. It would be nice to get our attendance up a bit. Maybe this time of year is a little difficult, I know I spend a lot more time on my home PC in the winter. I don't know how else we can, but I'll think about it. If I can't sell my helmet in here, I'm putting it on Ebay, and I'll give us a little plug in my ad.

Ride Safe

Been away myself guys...sorry Mongo missed the run in N.Ga...it was great riding the mountains again. Did a 100 mi ride on Saturday. Then on Sunday went for about a 350 mile ride up into Tenn and back. Rained a bit...but it was a great ride non the less. All told, put about 3k on the new bike this trip. Had to stop in Macon for an oil change. I'll tell ya, those folks treated me like gold! Got me right in and out and they are under staffed and under new construction! If you're ever in Macon, stop in and see them. The guy that owns the bussiness has been a dealer for 55 years and is still active in the dealership. Great people there! Good to be back!

Default 100th Kickoff Parties

Speaking of riding, have all your local dealerships been having 100th anniversary kick off parties? We went to one in Dubuque at Wilwert's on Saturday. Put about 200 miles on including the poker run. The poker run was riding from past locations to the construction location where they are putting the new 53,000 sq ft building. HUGE!! It was a blast to see where they started and where they are now. We had a ton of fun. Get this, I couldn't believe this, Clay (owner) Wilwert's grandfather was blind, and did all the motor work in the shop. The guy could tear down and rebuild a motor on his own! BLIND! Amazing. Anyhow, just chatty today I suppose, work is slow. If you ever get to Eastern Iowa, make it a point to stop at Wilwert's. Awesome dealership.

Anyone wanna buy a helmet???

Man, Phat-Boy you're really pushing that helmet....hope it gets sold. I have a few ideas for getting new people. It's so funny, but anybody that I've talked to loves this forum over the others that they join but the others still seem to have all the people. My ideas:

1. Getting some 'BikerForums.org' "bumper stickers" printed up. Of course they would be smaller so you could put them on your rear fender, helmet, or even your car or truck window. Every time somebody signs up their mailing addy is requested...and I send them a bumper sticker....and of course all you moderators get as many as you want or need.

2. In the other forums I'm a part of (and they're great forums) I sign my posts

3.. Continue with the raffles for charities. We haven't officially 'completed' the last raffle b/c we have yet to make delivery of the bike and make our donation. But the charity will be giving us some recognition in the local biker community and in general. We will continue to do this, I like it...and it's very productive.

I don't really want to solicit people, cause this ain't really a for profit project. This is a voluntary community that I admin in my spare time and you guys moderate in your spare time. I think if the word gets out....people will come (maybe I've been watching field of dreams too much).

This site will always be free to use, free of overbearing ads, and (we'll try) free of attitudes. I like how it's been going, check your attitude at the door and get some good talking done with other riders. I think it will be a success, I'm always open to input....and the people that have been around since the beginning (you guys/gals) have given us a solid (f-ing awesome) foundation to build this into something great.

As always, thanks for the help...and I'm glad you guys feel so strongly about the site and want to keep it going. Spread the word, spread the love....spread butter on those hot biscuits.

We should do a 'bikerforums.org' rally somewhere in a central location.....midwest anyone?

Default and by the way....

I was away in Georgia but will be here most of the time now. I am layed up in addition to being laid off though....I re-broke my foot....which is a whole 'nother story.

Devil Dog if you're out there, I got a good Marine story from my fun in Georgia. Talk about Hoo-rah and determination.....holy ****.

Default Rally and Things

Great idea, I'm up for a rally. I of course live in the midwest, so it may not be a huge jaunt for me, but I'd welcome to meet my brothers in person. Makings for a great time. Let me know when and where, and if I can help. I know the midwest well, and can help organize a spot if needed.

As far as the other ideas, I really like the bumber sticker thought. I'd put one on the truck for sure. Raffles and things are always great. I'd love to help out in any way I can. This is a great forum, free or pop-ups (THANK YOU!), and all the other advertisments. I'll do what I can to keep it that way.

Man, I can't tell you how bad the headaches are I get from that helmet. Maybe it's West Nile (lol), who knows, but the lady says I can't replace it til it's gone. Firgured I'd give all in here the opportunity to get a good deal on a nice helmet before I Ebay it.
