Atkins Diet
Well, not a real biker thread here, but here's my .02 on the Atkins diet. My Fiance and I are headed to Mexico in March to get married, so I figured I'd better shave some weight so no one tries to push me back in the water on the beach.
It kicks ***. Weighed in at a NFL lineman like 261 last Monday the 8th, and as of today, I tipped the scales at 247 folks. I don't know how it works, but it does. Her Brother is on it too, and it actually lowered his cholesterol from 300 to 240 in 4 months with no medication. Atkins.com has some tips on there, and I know there are some Atkins cookbooks you can buy as well. Need to get one, cause some foods are getting a tad old!! How about 3 dozen eggs since last Thursday!!

I'm generally against marriage, but I somehow ended up married and since I've met the future Phat-Girl - I have to give my blessing to the wedding. PB....don't let her get away.
The Atkins buzz has been around for years, a buddy and I tried it in college - but we drank way too much beer to make a difference that year. I am thinking about giving it a go, but with Mrs. Mongo only 2 months from delivery of the third kid the word "diet" is somewhat foreign in our house. If I can't get it done now...maybe right after the newbie is around.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mongo, thanks for your blessing. Still wish you could make the journey with us. Invite is always there. And yes, beer and Atkins don't mix!! Although, Michelob Ultra (you know the beer that doesn't exist in Milwaukee ) is the best one for the diet.

The Atkins diet is a good diet plan. Like any diet it is not flawless. Make sure that you do not confuse low fat and low carbohydrate with no fat and no carbohydrate. You have got to have “some” of everything in order to have the energy need to get through a day. You will find that you will have somewhat rapid weight loss at first then it will slow as you get closer to your ideal weight. If you loose weight and then go back to your old eating habits you will go back to your old weight. If you are serious about weight loss and getting healthy you have got to exercise. Diet is only half of what it takes. The way to get to where you can eat more of the things that you like, in moderation, is by raising your resting metabolism. Adding lean mussel from weight training does this. There is a book by Bill Phillips called Body For Life that explains diet and weight training in very plain easy to understand terms. This is a very good book for anyone wanting to become healthier. In the book it talks about taking EAS supplements because EAS is Bill Phillips company. You DO NOT have to take EAS supplements to see results from his plan.
