Daytona Bike Travelers--construction South-**beware**
Just got this info in from a guy that lives down in that area of Florida, in ref to DAYTON BIKE WEEK...........
so beware and alert for your safety----------Knightgale
For those of you headed to Daytona, here's a road warning.
I-95 south of Jax. is under construction. Normally that wouldn't bother most
bikers, but this mess must be run by the folks that
organize our voting system. The local news, sheriffs office, & highway
patrol are issuing safety warnings to bikers headed to
Daytona. In several areas there are *no* pull off lanes, & in some areas the
paved/unpaved lanes have a 1" to 2" ridge
between them. The construction is continuous from I-95 & I-295 south of
Jax., to I-95 & US-1 south of St. Augustine. I
travel the area up to 4 times a week, & even though the police claim to be
patrolling & ticketing to control the traffic, *no one*
is obeying the speed limits. Posted speed is 55 to 60, depending on how
close to the travel lanes crews are working. Average
speed is 70/75, & it goes up in any area that looks clear. There are
several alternate routes, depending on where you're
coming from. Take one of them! You'll probably save time, & maybe even your life.
