Deathwish??

Deathwish??
I was reading somewhere, I think on a different motorcycle forum before I came across this one, or it actually could have been this one, that the majority of "cage drivers" think that people who ride motorcycles are "Crazies with a Deathwish". What does everyone think about that? I mean let's face, motorcycles are dangerous as hell, but I think if you follow proper safety percausions then your crash rate dramatically drops, and God forbid you do crash, your survival probability is much higher. I plan on buying a Gixxer 600 soon, and without a doubt it will be my only transportation (except for maybe a snowy day where I borrow moms jeep).
I dunno, It just kinda pissed me off when I read that. I dont think you have to be "a crazy" to pay 1/8th the price of car insurance, gas, and overall price of the vehicle. Not to mention, it's so much funner! Hey, dont they say motorcycles are therapy? Uh huh.

Welcome to this forum glad to have you here. I don't know whether caggers think we have a "Deathwish" or not but I can tell you this avid motorcyclist has no "Deathwish" what so ever. I just love to ride and always ride with care because like you said proper riding technique will lower the risk of an accident and hopefully lessen the bad effects if an accident does occur. That's one of the reasons I chose a touring bike as I am afraid I might get carried away on a sportbike.
One can live in a bubble or go out and enjoy the life God gave us and I choose the later.
Good luck with the Gixxer 600.

Hello AhadAhad,
first welcome aboard, I'm also kind of a newbie, and you'll find out like me, that there are alot of good people on this board.
Grab a keyboard and Hope you stay awile.
As for your question, I definatly do not have a death wish, I want to be around for as long as I can for my family, I do realize that riding is probably a little more dangerous, but as Harrigancan said you have to go out and enjoy your passion, just ride safe and enjoy life. I enjoy riding and I always drive defensivly, always be alert and don't show off. I plan on riding for a long time.
I hope and pray the same for everyone else.
Ride safe and often.

I don't have a death wish either. I think that people who have not ridden and probably don't have the nerve to ride just want to find some way to bash people that do ride. Some of those people who bash riders have also had a loved one die from a cycle crash. Sorry for thier loss, but no not every rider has a death wish.
