Angry Myrtle Beach Mayor

This is complete BS. I was mad enough that they wanted to banned the types of clothing that people wore in public. But when the Mayor says he wanted to use his car to nudge a guy on bike because of the biker’s shirt. I mean, come on, WTF! I will not be part of their economy again!!

MB to police: Crack down on sexually explicit wares

By Emma Ritch

The Sun News

Myrtle Beach City Council on Thursday urged police to focus on eradicating the display of sexually oriented merchandise in the city limits, especially during bike rallies.

City Manager Tom Leath promised council members that police will increase enforcement of laws that limit the display of those goods and that prohibit the sale to minors after several council members complained about what they saw during last week's fall motorcycle rally.

Council members said Thursday the concerns were highlighted by City Council candidate Cynthia Powell's forum Wednesday that showed the explicit shirts she bought from vendors throughout the county during the rally.

Leath said the police enforce the law by performing sweeps, routinely walking through stores and following up on complaints.

The misdemeanor offense can bring a $500 fine and 30 days in jail.

"The stuff is allowed to be sold," Leath said. "It's the way it's sold that's regulated."

Businesses can sell sexually explicit merchandise under certain conditions, including that it's not visible from the open and not accessible to children, according to the city's ordina
nce.

Mayor Mark McBride said he wanted to ban explicit T-shirts from sale and from being worn in public, saying his young children shouldn't be exposed to a T-shirt he saw recently being worn on the public street.

"It was very tempting to kind of nudge the guy on the bike [with my car]," McBride said.

What a bunch of friggin' babies. Though I'm sure they like all the $$$ their town hauls in during the bike events.

Like there are not enough nuts out there. Now we got a psycho politician that wants to run over bikers in his own city. Nice

Cool

If politicians really and I mean really go in and do the job for the PEOPLE as they say, I don't see how they have time to get involved in everyones business. He forgets that means extra revenue for the city/town. I say move the business just outside the city limits and see how much money is generated that way. He's probably mad because he can't go into those establishments for fear of someone catching him at it and making the news and becoming a scandal.
