Default So...another neighbor hates me

Oh well. Here's a good story for all my fellow board members. Last night, after I got home late from work, got the kiddies to bed and ate a little grub with Mrs. Mongo I heard a knock on our door.

A little old lady at my door. Figure she's either selling something or bitching about something I did so I answer the door with my hand on my gun. Turns out she's there because our local gov't will be voting on repealing an ordinance that "affects our neighborhood". Hmmm.....so I grab the sheet she has and wouldn't you know it...it's my favorite ordinance of them all. The ordinance bans the riding of motorcycles on one particular stretch of road along the river that runs by my house. Pain in the *** for me, my neighbor and all the other fun loving bikers that live in the area....can't even come down the really nice road to go to our homes. I know what you're all thinking...and you're right, most of the time we say **** it and drive right through there anyway.

So, I proceed to tell the lady that I'm sorry I can't support her cause because I think the ordinance should be repealed and in addition I'm a biker and I think it's a BS ordinance. At this point, it's almost like I have pissed on her foot - the look of disgust is amazing. Then she starts in that I live closer to that road than her and she can't believe I don't care. The noise is crazy..this and that. Then I ask her if the ordinance covers loud cars or trucks that use that road..and of course the answer is no. This back and forth banter goes on for about 10 minutes or so....until my neighbor comes out of his house and heads right for his garage. He didn't even know what that woman was there for, but he had great timing. Starts up his bike to go run an errand and takes off down the road that you aren't supposed to have motorcycles on.

Turn back to look at the woman, and she's half way down my driveway leaving. Guess she had enough. Tonight though, I'm going to the meeting and I've voicing my opinion....banning motorcycles on a road....that's bullshit.

Thumbs down Wtf???

If it's a public road, how in the hell can they ban one particular type of legally licensed, registered and insured motor vehicle? (other than heavy trucks) That's bullshit! I remember that NJ had a ban on motorcycles on the Garden State Parkway, but that bit the dust in the mid 1970's. If the town or county accepts federal funds for road maintenance, how can banning motorcycles possibly be legal? If that goes through, I would (man I really hate to say this) call my local ACLU office and see if they would take this on. My guess is probably no, since they always seem to be on the wrong side of the issue on just about everything. Maybe contact the AMA? I don't know. But it's real scary to think that this can happen in this day and age. And, if it can happen where you live, it could set a precident so other towns can try the same ****. Give 'em hell, Mongo!

That’s funny ****! I hate those kinds of people. There is always someone that will try to use his or her freedom to take away yours. And it’s not just on motorcycle issues it’s everything. Guns, music, religion, a lack of religion, and that list goes on and on. These people are a puss filled boil on the *** of society. Give'um Hell!!!

Mongo where is this solcialist place at, Junkyard is right the AMA might want to get involved in this. I personally would put together a run with as many bikes as possible, all leagal in every other way, notify the media and do a run down that road with spokepeople to get the word out. If you had several hundred bikes that the police had to either cite or let go if would be national news.

Keep us informed on your progress.

Hey Mongo, you should've told her to take her petition and shove it, and then told her you and about 20 bike buddies were having an all night party and did she want to show up for beer and barbeque. That would have really got her steamin'.

What you SHOULD have done was ask her if she would like a shot of whisky, tell her it's bath time and invite her in to take a bath with you and the rest of the family. But hindsight is always funnier.

That, or you could have asked her if she had any good skills. Nun-chuck skills, Bowstaff skills, Computer Hacking Skills, you know SKILLS.

You should have a petition made up to turn your house into a strip club then the next time someone comes to your door asking you to sign a petition you should tell them "I'll sign yours if you sign mine"

Based on Mongo's last thread, I thought about moving this post. That was just uncalled for.

To answer the original posting.
First of all, don't give these people a reason to get annoyed with us for reasons beyond the fact that we ride motorcycles. That will not help at all.
Secondly, unless the road is a private road, I cannot see any way that an ordance can be passed prohibiting any street legal vehicle from using the road. In the part of West Virginia where I live, they have passed a county law prohibiting ATVs from using any county roads-BUT, an ATV is not a street legal vehicle. My motorcycles are.
In the area where I live, the roads are private roads, and yes, we could pass a local ruling prohibiting the use of motorcycles on these roads. But, I don't see it happening any time soon.
