Mongo's head is hurting.
I've been doing a lot of thinking (ain't done this much since 3rd grade math).
Some of you may know that I was recently offered another job that's a pretty sweet deal. I have good things and bad things listed as taking this job. Where I'm at now, the work's alright...but I'd rather be doing something else. The job I was offered is that something else. The problem is that with the job I was just offered I'd have to make some sacrifices. As most of you know, I sold my heritage just last month and am planning on getting another bike in the spring. If I stay at my current job, I'm basically giving up a great opportunity and a job that I would love doing....but I would have no problem getting another bike, finishing that project I have started and building a new garage for all that crap. If I take the new offer, while I'll be doing something I love....I might not have enough dough to go full blast on a bike. I know I could save and scrape to get an older bike like I had before the heritage (85 flh), but I won't be able to put up that garage....and probably will slowly make progress on that project. To complicate it more....with the new job there's a possibility that with overtime I'd be able to do all of those things that I want to do...and actually make more there. In about 3 years from now, I'd be making as much at the new job as I am now....if not more....as a base without OT.
Job now, I'm a m-f 9-5 type guy, pretty bland, good money....good opp to keep making more money.
Offer that's out there would be some shift work, exciting job...something I like and big time job security with a great retirement.
Seems funny that my riding is playing such a big part in a career decision, but honestly it's an important part of me.
Anyway, I can relate to the people on these forums and was wondering what any opinions are. Would you rather work harder and be in a job you love.....or be on easy street and be in a sucky job? Thanks for reading....now ya might understand why my head hurts.

Man, sorry to hear about this. Sounds like the new job would really be something you would love, but there's the money part of it. Then again, the money would be ok with some OT and in 3 years sounds like the base would be up there. Souded like you've been working some serious OT as of late last we talked, so would that be a big issue? I guess no one but you and Mrs Mongo can really lead you in the right direction, but in my opinion, the new job sounds like something to look into seriously!!! You'll figure it out man, just follow your instincts.
I'd go for the new job. After all, you will be spending the majority of your time doing it so you are better off doing something you enjoy and being happy that doing something you hate and regretting not taking the other job.
You only get one go at life so enjoy it.
