Default Thinking negative

All Bikerforums.org members.

Maybe I'm thinking negative, but there's not much activity on these boards, which doesn't spell good for the future. Up to this point, we funded the project with our own money which we will never complain about. This is a spot for bikers from all over, riding anything with two wheels to come and meet some people and get some good info. We will NEVER charge a fee for being a part of these boards, and we will never annoy you with emails or overdo our advertising. We will only keep one banner spot at the top of our pages.

The problem is that if I don't see a pickup in the use of the boards, I don't think it makes any sense for us to keep going past our re-registration date in February of 2003. Yeah, it is like 4 months away, and we should have expected the drop off when the good weather hit, and it would kill me to lose something so near and dear to my heart that I think beats the other 'forums' out there hands down...but really what should I do?

Should I change the name to something better to find?

bikers-forum.com
bikerwebforum.com
biker-web-forum.com
bikerwebforums.com
bikerchats.com
bikerdiscussion.com

or should I just let it ride and see how it goes?

I hope everybody weighs in on this subject, since you're the reason the forums are out there. Let me know what you think and what improvements would make it better.

Thanks.

Default Search Lists

I know one thing we did with our work site was pay to have it listed in search lists, like google, msn, aol, all those. It's costs a little cash, but maybe those that are interested can pool some change together to help out. I would. I don't know that changing it from .ORG to .COM would help. Check out this Software It allows you to submit your URL to the search engines so if anyone searches for the keywords you list, Bikerforums would pop up. Just a thought. I tend to agree that the weather is not helping, but getting the name out there will help as well. I don't know that it matters if the name ends in .COM, .ORG, .NET, any of that.

Just my .02

The site doesn't cost much to run, just mainly time...and I like doing it because I get to meet tons of great people. This will never be a pay site, totally free.....I just need people to spread the word and get the site popular.....it would be better for all of us since more people would have more opinions, discuss a vareity of topics and have more expertise in other areas.

I'm gonna start distributing those bumper stickers to some local shops.

Don't change the name now, It is just the season change. Hang in there and it will get better. I've been real busy at work and ridding. Try listing the name with a few free search engines.

Like the way the site is set up. I've been busy, not enough time to ride, our season is pretty much over here in ND. This site is one of the better ones i've come across. I like the fact that there are so many different topics and ideas. I'm pretty sure that when the weather starts to chill more there will be an increase in posts again.

Thanks for the posts. I've been trying to focus on submitting to search engines and also getting those bumper stickers out and about in the Philly area.

Nice to see you all back on the boards, and thanks for the support.

Take care.
