Vegetarians don't come in here...
when I was much younger, poorer, hungry, and damn near homeless... I hunted for meat... rabbit, deer (out of season and anything that would cross my path,) I once had to kill a tame old drake duck for my dinner table... he was horrible, I hunted for gator out in the glades... I've eaten snake meat... this was a bad time back in the early 70's during the oil shortage and so many of us lost our jobs... and our homes. So **** PETA... Let them walk a month in my shoes and see what they'd do in order to feed their kids, keep a roof over their heads ect... I learned taxidermy... and sold the skins of the animals I killled in order to have money for electric and water... I sold pygmy rattlers to the serpentarium down in Homestead and put gas in my car... and formula in my baby's bottle... I later learned marine taxidermy and made my living that way... screw those Arabs and their oil... (I was a floor installer then, and our industry was hit hard.)
While I love all animals... I am not willing to sacrifice my family and my independence from all things govrenment to that ideal of PETA's.

"screw those Arabs and their oil..."
and screw the Bush's for being up the Arabs a-holes. And screw people who drive big SUVs because if SUVs got the same gas mileage as mid-size cars we wouldn't need any foreign oil at all... the list of screwings goes on...

These PETA types are the biggest hypocrites around. They'll wear leather shoes, and then chastize you for eating a steak. As far as I'm concerned, PETA stands for People Eat Tasty Animals. Make mine medium rare.

Good for the kids and family occasions, long hauls, minivans are too ugly! Don't screw me, unless you are a hot woman
, screw the manufacturer for not making them more fuel efficient.

We're getting on a slippery slope here boys. I also own an SUV. Don't think for a minute that I don't wish it got better fuel economy. It's not a great thing when it cost $40.00+ to fill it, but I didn't buy it for it's MPG. I bought it for its performance in the crappy northeast winter weather, and to haul my family around, especially when we go on vacation. If I'm willing to pay for the gas, I have the right to drive whatever vehicle I choose. Now here's where it gets slippery......A lot of people could also make the argument that we motorcyclists are wasting gas when we go out for a Sunday ride to nowhere. I ride my bike to work every chance I get, but I don't do it because I think I'm saving fuel. So, if you want to jump on the save gas bandwagon, you better be ready to sell any non-essential fossel fuel burning thing that you own. That includes the bike, lawn mower, weed wacker, snow thrower, pocket bike, dirt bike, etc etc. Either that, or figure out a way to commute on them. See what I'm gettin' at? Conserve fuel? Absolutely. Blame our nations fuel dependency on us who choose to drive SUV's? Gimme a break!
WooHoo! my man,
I think there are a lot of tree huggers out there that care enough, but like Junkyard said, I didn't buy it for the mileage. I pay $55 a week in IA for gas. Imagine what that would cost in a larger area!!!! I bought it for work and play. Gotta have room for the children, and those of us that have kids understand that. A lot of people wanted Ford to remake a version of the 60's Mustang, and they just got that this year. So maybe in another 20 years we'll have fuel efficient SUV's. Until then, it's everyones choice. People don't buy them for the mileage, if we did, no one would own them and we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. There are a lot of other places we could conserve without just singling out SUV's. I'm not looking to pick a fight, I'm sure the SUV was just an example, but this could drag on for a while.
I will agree on the screw the Bush's statement though!!!
