Hopefully I"ll have some time this summer to take a longer ride than a weekend. Keep us posted about the trip.....and take care on the road. Later.

Default Back

I am back from "down east". The trip there was exhilerating. Met some cool people, Tzut from Penn was a remarkably helpful soul and he made some pipes for his Valkyrie that kept that bike from sounding like a swarm of bees, that was a neat thing I thought. East coast is breathtaking when it wants to be. And it can be a hellaciuos contradiction to that when it chooses to too. The ride back was an un-equivocable test of spirit and will of man against the elements. Cold, wet, snowy(yes, snowy, in May), cloudy, dark, freezing(that mostly-ofcourse-in Michigan) and predominantly a virtual test. Do I give up and get a room till the sun comes home or do I tuff it out? I tuffed it out and I got home at 3AM May 18 and spent 3 hours coiled up with my wife soaking up what heat she could stand to share. WHAT A TRIP! I WON!
Little edge-of-town cafes and coffee shops on an endless list of secondarys and non-interstates. Lots of friendly faces and nods of approval from people as they cast their eyes on my Wide Glide. Funny how that thing draws attention. Another thing that I found 'specially noteworthy was how everyone I met, while often pronouncing me crazy, seemed to concur often in thier own way that they thought it was cool. Two little old lady's came up to me and just chatted on about how they used to ride with thier husbands after WW2. It was a really cool trip. I wouldn't trade that experience for warmth and or sunshine. ITW
