Default engine advice for a newbie

So being interested and new in the world of both motorcycles and mechanics, I'm in the process of taking apart the engine for a little 84 xr100. So far I've found that one of the biggest problems I've had is simply being able to wrench old bolts and screws loose (don't think this thing has been messed with for a while). Since I'm a pretty small girl, I'll have to admit that sheer force is not really the answer. I know that I need to use my head rather than just muscle. I've tried impact drivers with rubber mallets, I've tried liquid wrench, and I don't really have anything to heat the screws up with. Any other suggestions?
