Greetings from SoCal (new meat)
Hey there forum members....
Just have some questions and thought I would stop by a bike forum and try to get some answers.
A little background about myself. I am 20 years old and work for my local Dodge dealership as a Automotive Technician. Currently I am driving my 04 SRT4 but I have been looking into getting a crotch rocket for awhile now.
So I had just been tossing around the idea of getting a bike for a few years now but have gotten serious about it recently. So today my buddy with a 03 CBR 954 asked if I wanted to ride it and see what its like to be on a street bike. Until today I have never ridden on a bike other then dirt bikes so I had the basic grasp of the whole clutch thing but it took some getting used to. But after about 20 minutes in the parking lot he took me to I was ready for the street. I fell in love.
I rode the bike around town while he followed me for quiet a few hours and got comfortable with the bike...
Well now that I am serious I am looking for opinions on bikes that I have been looking at...
Triumph Daytona's - either the 04 600, 05 650, or a 02-05 955
Yamaha - R6 or R1
Suzuki - GSXR 600 -1000 (I like the look of the new GSXR)
Honda - CBR (not really a Honda fan and never have been but I loved how my buddies 954 rode)
Now im looking more for opinions on the daytonas... I dont really know and havnt heard to much about them. Are they reliable? What are there main problems that alot of them have? I heard they have great center of gravity? Around what mileage do they start to really have problems?
And as far as the otheres go, Honda is known for durability and so are the Yamaha's and Suzuki's....
I was also told that as a beginner I should get a bigger bike instead of a 600 series. I guess the logic behind this is that people on 600's dont respect the power of the bike cus its so little and the power to wieght ratio is different then that of a bigger bike. But people on bigger bikes respect the bike more and are more careful....
anyways.... opinions and information are more then welcome....
