Default Hello from Brisbane - Australia

Just a quick hello from Brisbane, Australia - located in Queensland, the north eastern state of Australia, land of the sun, sand, and surf.

Ive only been riding around the 12month mark on a good ol trusty (well not so trusty recently) Suzuki GS500e, which recently hit the 110,000km mark, with me doing about 15000 of those so far. Im still in the 'I *love* this' stage, but the family are still planning my funeral behind my back im sure... so maybe it'll be a car next time, but riding sure is good for the spirits (and bad for wallet!).

Just a quick note to anyone that would consider coming to Aus to do some touring... there is one place that is a must. Tasmania. Its that small (well relatively) island on the SE corner of Aus, and it has some of the most spectacular landscapes filled with lots of perfect windy roads - excellent riding conditions and im told by lots of the 'olds' that have gone down that way that its their Mecca.

I fell in love this week. I made the mistake of stopping by a bike shop, and having a bit of a drool... I came across a Yamaha MT-01.
Smooth.
Smoooth.
Smooooth.
Course seeing it was probably bad enough, why did I have to ask them to give it a boot? That note is magical.
Seeing it, hearing it...hell why not take a seat.
Single most comfortable riding position I have ever felt, sure beats the pants off the ol GS...
So all thoughts of getting a car next have disappeared from my head (well, im thinking maybe a bike AND a car would suit...but not sure the wallet agrees with me there).

Anyways back to it, ride safe

Welcome, mate. Australia is definately one of the places I would really love to visit. Beautiful country with beautiful women. One of the guys I work with was lucky enough to go to there on business, and really loved it. Hopefully I'll get there someday. Do you know if they rent bikes in Tasmania? Have fun and ride safe.

Welcome to BikerForums. I know you will enjoy your time here. Thanks for the tip on Tasmania. Not sure if I'll ever make it down under but if I do I'll keep that in mind.
