Hello from NY
Hello all. I have a question about biker etiquette. I don't understand when and who it is proper to wave to out on the road. Sometimes bikers wave and sometimes they don't. Sometimes I wave and sometimes I don't. I don't know if there is more to a wave than just a hello? Is it the crotch rockets against the Harelys? I get the feeling that there is some bikers out there that are too cool to wave hello. But then there are one percenters who wave. I'm so confused. I feel really stupid when I wave hello and the other biker doesn't wave back. FYI. I ride a '98 Honda Shadow. Thanks for listening. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks again. Kat.

in General we are all in the wind and
hence have a common bond on the road.
when I started riding it was common to
show the "brotherhood" fist as we passed
but since "patched" bikers, like my self,
take the term brother much differently
than others that was soon replaced with a
"low 5" and now it is common to see
the two fingers down which represents
the keep the rubber side down/shiney up
Some riders do not notice, some do not
acknowledge non american iron( for their own reasons)
others just don't.
I do not always get a response my self,
and sometimes don't return one
I would not take it personal
I have found like passing folks on the sidewalk
that in some parts of the country more folks
will say hello as they pass and in others they don't
But I don't worry about them I do what pleases me.
we are all in the wind!
not sure that helps
BUT thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Welcome katwoman. I ride a Harley and wave to everyone even those riding scooters after all two wheels is two wheels. But I don't take offense if I don't get a wave back. I guess some folks are just friendlier than others.

Hello Kat Woman! I am Esmeralda from New York also. Just do what you think is right. No need to ever worry. What part of New York do you live in? The weather here is finally getting a little better. The humidity we had was enough to make you drop dead. Looking forward to the fall.
