hello world
hi riders, this is my first post and to introduce myself, i am a new learner rider 1 month in. my current bike is a scooter, which was a convenient purchase and something to get me going.
i ride twice a day as a commuter 20 mins each way, through city traffic and there are some sections of road which are really fast. the speed limit is 80km/h but i am constantly overtaken with cars, who are often moving lanes at the same time. on the weekends i travel with the family, wife and 2 kids - on 4 wheels.
i don't have a clue what sort of bike i will be moving to next, but now i have some experience i value:
1. reliability ( scooter didn't start for 2 days due to low battery, public transport is now unacceptable)
2. i love travelling in between lanes in what i call the "bike lane". i see lots of bikers doing this and while its probably (OK it IS illegal) i feel it is a legitimate to do while traffic is standstill
3. size, i am 6"1 and the next bike should be a good fit, yet i don't want to impact point 2. something tall but narrow.
4. speed, i don't trust myself on anything tooo fast, but i would like to feel safe on the highway and faster roads
the bmw gs, ducati monster, harley davidson xr1200 and a few others have caught my attention. as you can see i have yet to narrow down what i really want.
motorbikes are quickly overtaking my spare thought cycles, so much to learn and lots of time to do it with......
cheers
