Information on HD servicar
I have recently accquired a 1950 HD servicar. Any information from any and everybody on this machine would be greatly appreciated. Some questions I would like to know at this time are: How reliable is the electrical system? Would it be a good daily driver? What are the shortcomings of this machine? I am very anxious to get all the info I can on this subject. I can be reached at : princess@chipshot.net

Biggest knock on the Servicar's are that they were underpowered (I think the motors were 45 cubic inch)...great for what the were designed for, to be an around the city transportation for Meter Maid's, delivery service, or, selling ice cream bars. But they are underpowered for the highway, top speed about 55 MPH or so. But I guess it depends what you will be using it for. If it's just gonna be an around town "bar hopper" it would be a great ride......after a lot of beers you wouldn't worry about falling over at stop signs, and red lights on the way home
As far as the electrical system, it was adequate when new, but if your Servicar is in rough condition, you might as well re-wire it so it will be dependable. Re-wiring shouldn't be a problem, as you can get a wiring diagram for it easily enough.
