Default cb360 no spark, i am out of options

i am working on a cb360 for a customer. long story short his brother had it and wanted to make it a cafe style, the wiring harness was a little wrecked so i soldered and siliconed all the bad connections i could see. re connected everything and have been struggling to get spark for hours. i changed the points and condensor but the original tested fine. i had 2 sets of ignition coils to begin with and tried both sets but nothing. i got another set off of ebay that supposedly come off of a running bike and still nothing. i dont have a battery for it i have been using a jumper. all electrical components are connected except for the lights/turn signals. there is no side stand switch that i have seen so i don't think that is holding me up and i have tested the clutch switch multiple times. i get 12v through the engine stop, ignition switch, and both connections to the capacitor and to where the points connect to the harness. i have never spent a lot of time with a points system but i am assuming that the 12v gets a jump whenever the points open to force the spark to the electrode.
resistance through all three sets of ignition coils is good, its close to 0 from primary lead to points connection, and if i remember correctly 10k ohms from primary to secondary. 5kohms through the spark plug caps, but i have also tried to get spark without them and nothing. there is no continuity from points to ground which i think is a good thing.
from what i can tell in the wiring diagram the ignition coil has 2 windings, the primary and secondary and in between the 2 windings is where the points connection is so i think that is where the juice goes to jump the plug gap. i haven't seen any relationship between the alternator and ignition system so i'm also guessing that it is a dc based system run purely off the battery and timed only by the points. i have checked the points gap and good, they are brand new so i didn't file them and when they are closed there is less than 1 ohm between each.

there are a few things that i wasn't sure about.
-i am getting 12v through the secondary lead of the ignition coils at all times when engine isn't spinning
-even though i am getting 12v up to where the points plug into the condensor and the harness it isn't transferring to where that wire connects to the points plate, but a resistance measurement shows less than 1 ohm when i test the wire that way
-there appears to be some sort of a diode that is near the right hand side ignition coil, it doesnt show up on the wiring diagram and the wires go into the harness

i know this is crazy long and i'm sure there are test results that i have done and forgot but essentially from what i can tell everything should be working fine and i'm getting nothing! if i'm missing something or anyone has anything at all that i could be doing wrong about please tell me.

if it wasn't a customer of mine then this thing would be in my burn pile already
