Question Marauder

Any Marauder riders around these parts? I have a 1998 with some OEM add-ons. I have jetted it and added Cobra slash cut pipes.

I also did the air box modification, humms right along at 170kph now

But the seat! man-o-man is that seat ever bad

I dunno how anyone could design a stock seat thats as uncomfortable as the stock seat. Useless I say.

I was looking at Corbin but with the exchange rate, its gonna cost me over a $1,0000.CDN

I've heard good things about Mustang seats but never seen one. Just wondering if there any others out there?

Cheers,James

Hi, James:

The Mustang seats are well made and of excellent quality...in fact, the pillion section (where passenger sits) is actually wider than the comparable Corbin. Then, too, there is cost...Mustang is a mite cheaper; they also are available in one or two piece versions.

At any rate, they are good seats, and a more affordable option to the Corbin.

Happy Trals!

Thanks for the response. I bought the Marauder when I was in a dry spell and it was all I could afford at the time. I kept it, hoping the Mrs. would take up riding but that never happened.

After all the work I put into it, selling it would be a loss, so I keep it, and take it out once in a while.

If I had the dosh I would like to Look at little closer at the V-rod. Its nice to get off a sportbike and cruise...

Cheers,James

Hi, James:

well, you might consider getting the best of both worlds and buy a 1200 Bandit. It has nice comfy ergos, a semi decent seat, handles nicely, and sports a powerhouse motor that can be pumped up to around 145 bhp with very little effort. Great do it all bike. Your Marauder is no slouch, either....with just a little tinkering, it can be made into a great muscle cruiser. So don't give up on it just yet!

Fracl, I have tweaked the Marauder a bit, Jetted and modified the air intake tracks. added pipes.

It "spools up" quite nicely now with a top end of about 180Kph(doubled up) The sound is decent also

As for the Bandit 1200. Yeah, nice bike for the dosh. I was looking at the FZ1 I have a 97-YZF1000 as my other bike, but I do like the riding position of the Bandit/FZ.

I'm getting a little old for the YZF

Cheers,James
