Default Road King Fender Choices

Has anyone swapped out their stock rear fenders on their FLHR to something different? Im seeing everyone making all kind of fenders for Softails and others, but am only finding custom fronts for my Road King. Im wanting a stock width rear in either a steel Ness Taildragger or WCC Roller, but all the catalogs show them for Softails and the like. Anybody have any suggestions?

If you buy one of the WCC, hell I think even a couple of the Ness fenders or tons of other for custom applications, you just have to make sure they're at the width you want and aren't pre-drilled. You can get virtually any style you want not pre-drilled and fit it to your application. With a road king there will be tons of other considerations though since there's a lot going on the back end.

Yeah there isnt a whole lot of custom parts being made for RK's when it comes to the rear end. Sumax makes the low boy fenders, but I dont really like that design. Plus I want to have steel fenders anyway.

Its funny how widths vary from each manufacturer.

I looked into a tail dragger fender in stock width and hinged for easy tire removal this past winter and couldn't find one. Just fenders for other models that would have to be modified heavily to fit the RK. IMO a stock width taildragger would look killer on an RK.

Yeah, I agree. It would look killer!

I contacted Arlen Ness and he said the 7.25 width steel Taildragger would be the one to start with, but would indeed entail a bit of custom work to fit it correctly. I know the 6.25 width Frontdragger will be no problem. I like the look of the dragger type fenders, and since they are steel, that makes me feel alot better.

I will probably plan it out and go for it , probably this winter when I get forced to take mine off the road.
