I'm new to riding and would like to hear what type of helmet people are using: half, 3/4 or full face.

 

I've used them all and now use a 1/2 helmet.

Shoei RF-900 (Picotte replica) on my sportbike, non-DOT biker trash skid lid on Harley for one day trips out of state where helmets are required. I also have an HJC CL-5 open face 3/4 helmet for cooler weather on the Harley.

The Big German - just like me - non DOT helmet.......Phat-Boy has seen me model it. On the legal side, which I had to be before PA went to 'no lid allowed' I had a half helmet. I do own a full face for the cold days.

I also, wear a beer helmet when there's a good game on....ya know...a can on each side to keep me hydrated.

 

I use to have a three quarter helmet but now have a half helmet with zip out lower section for cold days. I have a 2 snap helmet but cannot find a shield that will fit. Next time I will go with same helmet but with 3 snaps. Shields on cold days are nice.

I have both the 1/2 and 3/4 helmets, I will use the 1/2 during warmer weather and will switch to 3/4 during the winter season,
sure keeps my noggin' warmer in the mornings, but in the end it will be a matter of preference for you and once you've had time to try both or none at all you will probably favor one over the others.
