Default The Cage

Been shopping around for a new cage (aka. four wheeled automobile) and was wondering what everybody else drives when they're not on the motorcycle. I'm thinking I might get a truck, with the house and all the work I'll be doing....but at the same time a car is good for hauling the kids.

So what do you drive?

Default Whips, Cages, Hoopties

Mongo-Man. Right now the whips are a 98 Blazer and a 99 Camry. I've owned a lot of vehicles in my lifetime, and the one I miss the most is the 98 Dodge Ram Sport 4x4. That was the best truck I have ever driven, owned, all that. I HIGHLY recommend one. I really like the blazer, but it's a little small with 2 kids, and one day there will be a 3rd. Our next vehicle will be a GMC Yukon XL. Family and all, and we refuse to get a mini-van. Here in Iowa we need the 4x4 for the snow and all that. Just get yourself an extended cab, or a Quad and the family will fit no problem.

Let us know what you get.

Well being a single mom, I drove a 1990 Isuzu Trooper. My son and all his friends fit, being in ND, it had to be a 4 wheel drive. Now that my son is 15, I drive a Jeep Wrangler 4 x 4. Mainly for me, the boy is too busy out with his friends. Although, his first car is a '68 Chevy Impala. Not too sure on the year. Nice car thank goodness he won't get his license until next August. Anyway i'm rambling now so I'll let you all go.

funny you should mention hoopties phat boy....seems like that's what I'm driving now......it's my A-B car....get's me from point A to point B...so I shouldn't complain.

I'm leaning towards a truck after this past weekend. We planned on painting two rooms in our house...and we ended up painting one room, ordering carpet for the whole place and starting to rip up the existing carpet. Remember this house is about 150 yearso old....so once I ripped up the carpets...I surely didn't like what I found....so I basically demolished all the floors (except the kitchen and bathroom) in our house. I can say all the floors are replaced as of last night at approx. 10pm and they are laying carpet as we speak.....and I'm not divorced.....yet.

So you can see where a truck might come in handy...given my tendencies. I'm thinking a truck with the extra cab....maybe a new dakota four door....keep those ideas coming.

for the cold weather I have a VW Transporter Van, has a bench seat in the front so the three of us can all sit together and it's great for going camping in, as you can just throw all the camping gear in the back and not worry about trying to fit it into the back of the car like we used to.

I have a 96 4x4 Chevy Truck, Never had anything else other than a Chevy truck. I lived in the Sierra Navada Mountains when I got home from Viet Nam and I bought a friends 1951 PU. I Drove that 1951 Chevy PU for 13 years and took two awards for Ugly Truck of the Year and was runner up for the rest of the years (just kidding) but the truck was Ugly, (no cover over the seat springs other than a blanket. Floor foot button starter, 6 volt electric, Oil leaked out so fast you did not need to change oil much nor did the engine have a Oil filter. In order to place my broke 2 wheels in the back, I had to go by the can recycler first to empty the bed to make room. Today, My 96 4x4 Chevy has the same problem with the bed. I would always recommend a PU of some type to a biker. You can rescue a friend in need and you can move out real quick with one load if needed.

One thing I can tell ya, you buy a truck, and you'll soon find out how many friends you have that DON'T have trucks, cause they'll all be trying to borrow yours.

Friends barrowing my truck, that's how I clean out all the beer cans from the bed. Keep it ugly enough, they will not want to be seen in it.

No need to worry about me keeping an ugly car. I currently have a 89 ford bronco II that's on it's last legs. Looks like hell but who cares, my wife calls it the hooptie. I never get rid of a car unless I have to....just something 'bout spending money on the 4 wheel variety of vehicles that makes me cringe....but like I said.....it's dying and I need to make a move. I'll be out looking at trucks this weekend.

Mongo.. That is the only way to go.. Get a Truck... Then you dont feel bad when it comes time to haul **** around... Maybe using the tailgate as a work bench.. ETC.... Just make sure that you get a POS, Like Rapido said.. Then your bud's wont want to borrow it... and no one will want to steal it... Just My .02 worth....
