Hello Everyone,
My name's Rusty and I just finished a motorcycle safety course this weekend in preparation to get my license and purchase a bike soon. I thought this would be a good place to find good people and information, and judging by the posts, I was correct. I'm not too old yet, but both of my hips are new as well as one shoulder, so comfort and stability on a bike will be very important to me and I need foot controls that are easy on the feet and legs. Looks like a cruiser (I'm thinking Road King or Vulcan Nomad right now) is the way to go in that regard - but if anyone has any tips on things to keep the **** from aching and general things to look for in a bike - I'd appreciate any and all input. Suggestions for the best ways to sharpen skills before hitting the road. Last thing I (we) want to do is get hurt or hurt somebody. Keep the wind at your backs and the sun on your faces.

Hi cardfan welcome aboard. i have a Road King and am very happy with it. I am on the short side and in tight corners sometimes find it a bit heavy. My wife finds it a huge improvement over the Sportster I had before. As for tips i can only suggest that once you get a bike practice practice and practice some more. Enjoy.

Yeah, we did some of the countersteering you speak of in the class. A lot of "feel" in things like that, so can't wait to have a bigger bike to practice with. Thanks again - I'll take all this stuff to heart.
